Has anyone use a service to grade a possibly high value baseball card? If so, how was the experience? I have 2 rookie Rickie Henderson's that are in excellent shape, i'm just not sure how excellent they are.

since PSA bought SGC, not really much of a difference anymore. PSA is overpriced. SGC was the go to for vintage cards. Beckett is reputable.

Like someone to clean and send in your card to psa, bcg, etc? Of the actual company themselves. I've used tnt cards for submittals in the past

Could anyone here shed some light on this topic?

I'd like to know the cost of sending out a single card to be graded through PSA? Also, any advice on sending a card to then?

Thanks in advance

You got it.

So PSA offers different tiers depending on how expensive the card will be- https://www.psacard.com/services/tradingcardgrading

For cards that are cheaper than $200 or $500, I go through a friend who is an expert at this stuff and she has a Collector's Club membership (I think it's $100 a year). She ships out a LOT of cards and does all the packaging. I pay her the grading fee (either $15 or $18 depending on the projected value) and then a little bit extra to handle the packaging and shipping.

If you don't have a collector's club membership and the card's worth is under $500, you can have it graded for $25, or $40 if you want it expedited.

When I had a purple refractor Ohtani rookie card, it was a bit more to grade it- $75 because that card was worth almost $2000 as a 10. The $75 is steep, but the value of a Gem Mint rating was FAR more than a raw card. And at that price tier, it had a super quick turnaround- less than a week.

You also have to pay shipping for them to send it back to you which is like $20 because it's insured. Also a bit steep.

PSA has a shipping guide: https://www.psacard.com/info/shipguide I've done this where I just got 2 pieces of cardboard, cut the cardboard so that it was the size of the box, taped them together with the card between them (in a penny sleeve which was inside of a Card Saver, of course), and put them in the box with bubble wrap above and below.

You can also buy pre-made shipping kits that are nice, although again expensive. https://www.ebay.com/itm/196350829108 I used one of those kits for my Ohtani card and felt supremely confident that it was going to be safe, and it was. Since this kit can handle submitting like 20 cards, I sent in a lot of cards because I didn't want to spend $20 on the kit to ship a single card.

So let's say you're wanting to grade a single card. If it's going to be less than $500, you can have it graded for $25 plus the shipping fee, $19.99 and whatever it costs you to put together the box to send them. If your card is worth more than $500, it goes up from there and it may be worth buying one of those grading kits to send it in. What is $20 to make sure that a $500+ card is completely protected?

That is great information and exactly what I needed. I should get myself a membership or find someone locally that I might be able to work with like you are.

I only purchase PSA 10 graded cards. I didn't realize the value of the card itself changed the cost to grade it. Very interesting and I thank you again

Definitely PSA. However, most of the Henderson rookies are going to be PSA 5-7. Are you hoping for a 10?
I believe a PSA 7 is going for around 200 maybe a little more.

For resale or collection?

Just trying to assess what the value of it might be. No expectation that it would be a 10.

Got to eBay. Type in your Ricky Henderson Rookie, PSA. Go to filter and select sold/completed sales. That will give you an Idea of the market.

A PSA 9, will sale for almost as much as a BGS 10, or any other company. For resale and value. PSA

I don't have anything in me currently because 99% of my collection is in storage in another state. I have been buying graded cards on ebay, and I've been buying blasters etc lately. I just wanted an idea of a single card.

I recently switched to NBA due to how much easier it is to predict HOF talent over MLB. For decades I was predominantly MLB

I would be cautious of Wimberly. Everyone else sees it too, including the card companies. He's being mass produced. Values will not hold. IMO Silver 10's have dropped big time.

Have you tried buying singles off eBay? For example I'm a Rangers fan. I've been loading up on Cole Winn for over a year. His first bowman has been out since 2018. I've picked off a lot of his good stuff because most people can't afford to hold onto a rookie for 6 years. Now that he's called a his prices have went up and lots of his good stuff has shown back up.

I'm not saying he will be a stud, but it's better than buying retail, imo. In most blasters you'll be lucky to have one 2 dollar card.
30 bucks will get you a nice Cole Winn right now, (for reference)

this is certainly not accurate, a BGS 9.5 maybe, but absolutely not a BGS 10

I'm also a Rangers fan.

Wemby, Jokic, Lebron, and Luka are my focal points when I buy off Ebay. I may never sell and just give to my children or grandchildren one day. I'm 44

This is fun for me and I'm not trying to get rich off it. It's my hope that someone after me makes a killing off it

BGS has horrible resale value. There is not much difference in a PSA 9 and a BGS 10. Is there SOME difference, yes. It's not much though.

I could post countless examples. I just don't care too.

Most of us that have been in the game for a while know a BGS 10 is equivalent to a PSA 9. That's why most people don't over pay for BGS.

I have been in the game for 25 years, grade 500+ cards a year w PSA.

You are off base, 9 times out of 10 a BGS 10 will outsell a PSA 10, primarily because the BGS equivalent to a PSA 10 is a BGS 9.5

I sell on eBay, I know my stuff. Now if you are talking about a BGS 9.5 Gem Mint then yes, a PSA 10 will outsell it 99% of the time, but because a BGS 10 is so much more rare than a PSA 10 it will out pace it 100%

How can I say this…… I didn't put forth the effort to prove my point, because you would counter with that. BGS fan boys do it all the time. I can show you examples that prove this opposite of what you just showed. Sold listenings prove that point time and again. You guys get drug on the internet all the time. I don't have the energy.

I'm sorry you overpaid for your BGS 9.5 or whatever that is.
I'm not that guliiable.

Anyway, good day.

show me ONE example, use card ladder or market movers, or 130point.com

you cant do it.

Also, I am not a BGS fan boy, I grade exclusively with PSA, right around 500 cards a year.

You literally have no idea what you are talking about, I am willing to drop it, but first you must admit you are way off base.

You are thinking of BGS 9.5, not BGS 10, and def not a BGS black label 10

Also, I buy collections if anyone on here wants to unload what they have
