How long do you want to ignore this user?
At age 83

Now I don't care if he gets into the HOF....I just didn't want him to ever get the satisfaction of getting inducted

May he rest in peace.

And let's put him in the HoF

Strange that ESPN is not reporting it yet.

Update. They finally broke it.

Of course he had a HOF career.

RIP. But he's never getting in. His lawyer felt like it would be worse to wait until he's dead, and I tend to agree. He was either worthy or he isn't. Almost cruel to wait until he was dead because it basically says "we left you out for being an ahole, not because you gambled on your team's games"

I first saw a TMZ report but I waited until I saw it on Yahoo, BR, NY Post, Cincinnati Enquirer

Heard they banned him from both Heaven and hell too

He probably only deserved to be banned from one

If that were the criteria, Ty Cobb would never have gotten in.

Oof. Kristofferson and Rose back to back. RIP.

I'm sure he slid into heaven head first.

He agreed to the life time ban. Not something other banned players (Shoeless Joe Jackson) agreed to.

It actually wasnt a "lifetime ban".....I thought it was for a long, long time but someone showed me the actual wording a year or two ago and it was actually written "permanent" not "lifetime"

A lifetime ban seemingly gives a loophole to allow his induction now that Charlie Hustle is no longer among the living where a permanent ban seems irreversible or in other words

I have no problem with Rose getting a plaque in Cooperstown but as it is he is not absent from the Hall now and won't be as long as his career records continue to stand.

MLB is a petty organization. How hard would it have been to induct him as a player only (and not recognize his time as a manager). I know, I know... the purists wouldn't like this.

I understand the arguments of why many believe he may have taken the money but could not bring himself to not play his best. I've not seen any account that states Jackson only received $50 before agreeing to be in the conspiracy but needed $5.000 of the promised $20,000.

Now. Now that he's gone, I'm okay with him entering the HOF.

Not a fan, but I like Charlie Hustle much more than sanctimonious baseball writers who consider themselves the judges of what is ethical and moral.

Rose and the Big Red Machine was my favorite as a kid, so mix emotions. As a kid loved "Charlie Hustle ", as an adult discovered what an a-hole he was, so will give him his due as the player and say so long to another childhood crush.

I wanna see our defense pissed off, not confused, maybe a little murder in their hearts Reload12, 11/4/11

I look forward to the MLB keeping Ohtani out of the HOF too. We all know it wasn't his damn translator

I think the myth of Cobb being hated universally was perpetuated by Al Stump. There is a newer biography by Charles Leerhsen that does a good job debunking many aspects or Cobb lore that are portrayed in movies.

I've always felt like banned players (and steroid players) should be allowed into the Hall, but put it into their plaque that they were banned from baseball (or failed a steroid test). It's stupid they aren't in, especially after they are dead and would no longer receive anything from admission.

Rose was a great player. But he was a worse human being. Total scumbag. You don't have to be a saint to be worthy of the HoF, but you can't bet on baseball.

Keep him out of the Hall of Fame forever.

I'd be disappointed to find out he was actually a nice guy. I like that some of the greats were *******s. It reminds me that we haven't changed that much.

To hell with him for what he did to Ray Fosse in the 1970 All-Star Game. Fosse still had some good years left, but was never quite 100% again.

I never bought the Charlie Hustle nonsense - The whole bit of running to first base every time he got a walk was the most affected BS I ever saw in sports.

That's foolishness. Pete deserved it as a player. Manager, no; but player, absolutely!

The foolishness was betting on the sport that one is participating in!

He certainly was a HOF caliber player but actions have consequences....especially if you sign off on them.

Like I said, I don't care if he gets in now.

He is sorry, too, so was Barry Bonds…all of them deserved what they've gotten for cheating blatantly
