This thread is to talk about Joey Gallo and the Strikeout Kids, and where they're going to be playing next year.
This thread is not for
1) Disparaging Lord Gallo
2) Disparaging me
3) Insulting anyone who enjoys the fine art of the power strikeout hitter.
You know what this thread is about when you click on it. If you think it's stupid, go away. If you think I'm stupid, that's a very popular opinion, but not what this thread is about.
Now, onto business.
I mostly started this thread after seeing this picture.
Has King Donkey ever looked better? The answer, of course, is no.
Even more exciting is the big news that the Gallo bloodline is secure. Joey Gallo and his girlfriend, Hayden Hopkins, described as a professional dancer for Cirque du Soleil, announced the birth of their daughter, CAPULET LILAC GALLO, four days ago.
Yes, that's right, they named their baby Capulet, like the family of Juliet in Romeo and Juliet. The patriarch of said family, also named Capulet, almost kills Romeo early in the play for sneaking into the family ball. Then Tybalt Capulet kills your boy Mercutio. Then Romeo kills Tybalt. Then Romeo kills Count Paris. Then he thinks Juliet is dead even though she's just faking it. then Romeo kills himself. Then Juliet kills herself. And that's who you named your daughter after! OK, moving on.
Joey received a very generous "C" grade from Sports Illustrated as a free agent signee for the Nationals recently.
Bringing Gallo in is always an interesting move, no matter the team that does it. The team knows they're getting a guy that's going to struggle to hit the ball, but when he does it is usually going far.
He didn't do much of either this season and spent most of the year either injured or on the bench.
The veteran posted a .161/.277/.336 slashing line with 10 home runs and 27 RBI in 76 games.
Grade: C
We should have some big-time Joey news any day now. He and the Nationals have a mutual option deal worth $8 million for 2025 that has a deadline 5 days after the conclusion of the World Series. Since that ended Wednesday, we should know Joey's plans by Monday.
