****ing Dodgers, *********Yankees, and ****ty Red Sox never get any punishment.
If it was us or just about anybody else? League is making an example. Death Penalty.

What are they doing?
They received so much money from revenue sharing that they need to meet a certain minimum payroll to avoid a grievance.

I still think we should try and send them Montero. I noticed he's an NRI to spring training, kinda surprised by that.

Cubs president Jed Hoyer is booed by Cubs’ fans when he said he couldn’t answer whether they had any interest signing free agent 3B Alex Bregman.

Jays continuing to talk to Santander. Making some progress but not done yet, and Jays have been disappointed before. Fresh off the Sasaki disappointment, also eying Alonso plus significant starters and relievers. @ShiDavidi @bnicholsonsmith on Santander

I like the scenario, but I don't think there would be any room to work with, even after trading Pressly and Caratini.EastCoastAgNc said:
Ok, this is purely a hypothetical scenario...but hear me out...
Lets say Jim says "screw it, lets spend big", and lets say Alex is still out there and he is willing to take a short deal with Houston. Why not give him a 3 year deal with opt-outs each year for something like $25-30m per. Parades gets shifted out to left field. If Alex opts out, we have Parades and Smith waiting in reserve to fill the hole and you get a bunch of payroll room whenever he opts out. Trade Pressley and Carantini to clear payroll so there's still room to work with at the deadline, or to go get some bullpen help.

Damned if you do damned if you don't.
You offer him that and if he plays great, he opts out… if he doesn't play well he doesn't and you're stuck with him.
I'd rather do a 2 year big AAV with opt out after 1 deal than 3 years
