My thought process that the 'Stros would be 1st place by the end of April was because we have some new pieces (Walker, Rodgers, Paredes), a young player (Cam), and some other guys really needing to prove their worth (Jake, Chas) so we might start the year hot. Well, that hasn't proved to be a good theory, but some have been showing flashes recently (Paredes, Jake) so I still believe!

However, it doesn't help that the Rangers get to face the A's 6 more times before the end of April. Hopefully they get swept by the Dodgers and Giants.

I thought about this last night and I think with as little offense as we have no matter who we insert in the lineup it's become that more important to field a better defense and do all we can to keep teams from scoring.

If we had an offense that was humming and we could outscore teams I think they'd be OK playing Jose at 2B.

But as of now our defense is pretty stellar (tops in the league in defensive runs saved) and that's a huge plus when we're scoring so little.

At this point, I think your reasoning is valid. I don't have a super strong opinion to argue it, other than I don't think Dubon's defense is such a big difference when there are better offensive options (imo) to put in LF or DH.

We aren't the Dodgers paying a billion for a lineup but we do have hitters. They just aren't hitting.

Has anybody watched the Apple TV documentary on the 2024 World Series yet? It's actually pretty good… though both teams/fanbases are the worst but it was neat to see more of the day to day stuff

Brown at 24 pitches

Most of that was all from that missed 3rd strike. It led directly to a walk, which moved to 3B on Arenado's flare (who should have never been batting) and Arenado stealing was because of the runner on 3B.

All of that and the extra 9 pitches it took because the home plate ump blew a strike 3 call.

I definitely expect Yanier, Yordan and Christian to hit much better. The bottom of the lineup will likely be a problem all year and the lack of lefty bats will put us in a tough spot against certain starters and teams with the bullpen to take advantage of it.

Now bring em home
