I was told a while back that guys in that era were all taking performance enhancers. If you weren't on roids, you were taking speed or on adderall.
Biggio never took roids.

Legit question - how long does Espada have? A horrible start two years in a row. I know the roster isn't what it used to be, but we are seriously underachieving.
I contend that this team is not underperforming by that much and this start is nowhere near as bad as last season's.
A lot of projections had us around 85 wins so they're not too far off of that.
So he'll look like a Cy Young candidate today...W said:
a guy named Quinn Priester starting for the Brewers this afternoon
5.79 ERA
roughed up his last 2 starts
No worries, we can make a CY candidate out of anybody these days…W said:

So you are saying we just need to talk to MLB about fixing the hitter's eye in all the other parks now?W said:
the Astros are building a significant home vs. road disparity
11-7 at Daikin
6-11 on the road
I agree with all of this, especially the Altuve in LF thing. I'll be honest, I don't know what benefit the front office thinks we are getting by putting Jose in Left. The only way that I would have understood it is if Bregman came back and they moved Paredes at 2B. But putting Jose in LF and thus taking away a spot from Dezenzo and/or Smith, AND using that open spot at 2B for Dubon or Rodgers, just flat out doesnt make sense to me.Mathguy64 said:
I'll say it. This team is offensively challenged as constructed and it's nots being used to maximize what it does have.
The biggest issue to me is the complete RHH lineup. It's allowing mediocre RHP to throw nothing but cutters/sweepers/sliders and get in a rhythm doing it. They don't have to change their motion or reset with LHH.
It's overloaded with OFers who are all RHH, low power guys. Positions that should be power hitters.
I'm totally lost as to why Cam Smith is on this roster. If you are going to have him up here he has to play every single day. Same with Dezenzo. Every day. Put them in LF and RF every freaking day. Or Altuve at LF and Zach at DH while Yordan is out. When/if Yordan comes back put Jose at 2B. Maximize what you do have. If you aren't going to get Cam every AB you can send his butt down where you can play him every day at AAA. It's like they wanted the feel good PR story more than the player development.
Add in the really bad baserunning where they just self implode. They make really bad decisions that wipe out the few base runners they do get on. That's coupled with the other side where teams seem to advance runners at will. The rules are built to take advantage of speed and we are going in opposite directions with our runners versus our opponents. They can get a walk and hit and plate a run. We can get a walk and two hits, not plate a run and manage an out.
Yep. There were times last year where we had Yordan, Tucker, Caratini and Singleton all in at the same time.W said:
going back to the RHH lineup...
today's struggling starter for the Brewers allows:
.918 OPS to left-handed hitters
.744 OPS to right-handed hitters
I think we are going to find out Yordan has been playing with a broken hamate.iBrad said:
I think our struggles are due to hitters not performing up to their capabilities, particularly guys like Yordan and Yainer. If those two guys were performing at last year's level, there wouldn't be near as much concern about the offense. Yordan has a negative WAR right now. And you can't blame that on facing so many righties. He's the one that should be flourishing.
If those two guys get going, we'll be okay. If not, it's going to be a long season with a lot of serious questions to answer heading into the offseason.

We lost two games to this team
I don't have my decoder ring with me today. That means minimum of 1 month, right?Mr. Awesome Time said:
Just read that it's a right hand muscle strain and that Espada hopes he isn't on the IL more than 10 days. We'll see.
The Astros prolly would have said Abraham Lincoln had to leave Ford Theater because of head discomfort.Mr. Awesome Time said:
At least it's not the dreaded "discomfort" prognosis instead. Maybe they realize people are tired of hearing that.
Bone bruise. Already playing catch in the outfield and looking forward to getting back into regular baseball activities.MaxPower said:The Astros prolly would have said Abraham Lincoln had to leave Ford Theater because of head discomfort.Mr. Awesome Time said:
