De Vries is a huge get for the A's. They are going to be a problem once they get a couple of their top tier pitching prospects up.

Isaac plays 2B when he returns

I heard that experiment was an unmitigated disaster in ST

He's had 57 starts in the majors at 2B. His fielding percentage is really good, but his range is not.

Agree. We should not give up on Yainer, that would be a disaster imho

As much as I would love Correa back it doesn't seem to make sense. If Paredes at 2B was such a disaster, then you have nowhere to put CC next season. Unless he would move to the OF but that seems unlikely.

Eh...they will just trade those guys too. Just like Miller.

The A's continue to model how you can stay in neverending rebuild mode.

I love what the As have cooking.

Between Kurtz, Butler, Rooker, Soderstrom, Lanegliers, and now this kid they'll be competing soon.

They traded Miller because an elite closer on a cellar dweller is useless.

Interesting since they have a potential star in rookie Jacob Wilson at SS.
I love Texas Aggie sports, but I love Texas A&M more.

You could make it work.

Pena at SS
Correa at 3B
Paredes splits time between 3B/1B/DH
Walker has to improve to keep his starting job at 1B.

OR

You teach Paredes LF and Altuve goes back to 2B.

Makes sense. Correa's production this year is pretty much in line with that of new acquisition Urias who costs like 3% of what Correa costs this season

That being said, for $50 mil over 3 years would absolutely take Correa

I don't think Wilson sticks at SS. His defense metrics are subpar and isn't fast or overly athletic. 2B might be in his future.

Can never have too much elite pitching

I think Cease or Alcantara with the Astros Pitching Lab would be deadly

Cease would be better but also Alcantara has another year on his deal so an offseason with the pitching lab could be great for him

Agree. Their young core is fun to watch. You left out Butler and Denzel Clarke.

They went for it in 2018-2021. Then all their top plays hit the market or were about to. They reset and should be good soon if they can figure out SP. Their young core is awesome.

The A's don't have a history of that. They will keep guys together for a 3-4 year run then rebuild. They aren't perpetual doormats like the Pirates.

Depending on who we are trading I get the Twins position that $50M is too much. Think you get them to take the rest of this years salary and maybe another $10M in a later year for $25Mish total but I do agree we need something else in the package to take on his injury risk and a lefty OF bat with some control makes sense (Wallner ideal).

Or you can trade Paredes or Pena in the offseason for a big return. Regardless, it's a next year problem.

Correa isn't worth $17M/yr

So us taking on $50M is being generous and fair

That's fine but I wouldn't trade him if I had to eat that much so the deal just doesn't get done and both parties agree to disagree.

If this year's performance is anything to go by, he's not.

We are getting better performance from Urias at a fraction of the cost of Correa

I don't think the front offices think like that. He has a career of excellence. He's still hitting the ball well. The odds are he improves if he continues to, not stay the same. He's still fairly young.

If it's Alcantara that isn't a rental. Agreed on Cease unless other parts are involved. If we could get Salas back to be a future catcher that could make sense as he gives us a lefty option behind the plate.
