Makes sense. Correa's production this year is pretty much in line with that of new acquisition Urias who costs like 3% of what Correa costs this season
That being said, for $50 mil over 3 years would absolutely take Correa
Depending on who we are trading I get the Twins position that $50M is too much. Think you get them to take the rest of this years salary and maybe another $10M in a later year for $25Mish total but I do agree we need something else in the package to take on his injury risk and a lefty OF bat with some control makes sense (Wallner ideal).
Correa isn't worth $17M/yr
So us taking on $50M is being generous and fair
I understand not thinking he's a 33 M a year player, but why isn't he a 17 M a year player?
If this year's performance is anything to go by, he's not.
We are getting better performance from Urias at a fraction of the cost of Correa
I don't think the front offices think like that. He has a career of excellence. He's still hitting the ball well. The odds are he improves if he continues to, not stay the same. He's still fairly young.
Back of the baseball card hopium hasn't worked out well for us

Cubs are among teams trying for Mackenzie Gore. With two plus years to go , no urgency to trade him. Told nothing close yet.

His defense has been declining over the last 4 years, and he hasn't had a great full season since 2022. He's got major injury questions as well.

That is not what I said.
Carlos has not been "consistently "excellent in the recent past, and hasn't hit over 20 HRs in years
Expecting him to be an 850 ops hitter and paying him as such is a gamble, he's trending to 700s

I couldn't do B because I would get tossed out before the end of the game. The first close call we have where Joe is just sitting there would be the end of me.
I would say A to see how much is really going on behind the scenes.

B - easily.
Jim doesn't sit in the Diamond Club almost ever. He likes his box above the Clubs next to the announcers. I've sat in it with him and Reggie and Biggio (humble brag). He's all baseball - watches the game - doesn't talk much. My buddy was in business with him - so anytime we were in his club seats which are right below Jim's suite there was a chance Jim would call him and tell us to come up to his suite.

A PERSONAL NOTE
Really happy to get online and back in the mix and able to watch the team again on TV soon.
When I mentioned something lousy was happening back in April, there is a person on this thread took time out to DM me and check on me multiple times over the next month. I do not know him personally, and am probably old enough to be his father, and at least a few times I have made snarky comments about him in seasons past. But his reaching out just showed me what an incredible person he is and we're lucky to have him.
You know him as texasaggie2015. Thank you so much, man, I really appreciate it.
