Dana should not be mortgaging the future to save this season. Saving it should be a priority but not necessarily at the expense of starting the clock on players who aren't quite ready. Especially given the impeding lockout.

IIRC everyone who was on a ML contract during the last stoppage got full credit for service time. If you start the clock on someone this season you may lose a whole year of Pre-ARB time on them next year for nothing.

He needs 2 starters to eat innings. They don't have to be Cy Young. They just need to be better than a pull pen opener. That's why I don't get the reluctance to look at Tyler Anderson.

Yeah I think for any hope of getting back into it one of these guys needs to become a quality starter this year.

The other interesting possibility with this Cleveland trade is they have a catcher in AAA who is absolutely raking in Cooper Ingle. Not highly regarded defensively but seems like we are at the shake things up phase of the year. CV is good defensively but if you look at his advanced data hitting wise it's virtually the same as last year so there's no reason his bat doesn't turn back into a pumpkin.

JV and Javier both had Tommy John after dealing with neck stiffness. The shoulder is closer. I can only assume hunter will need an amputation
