So I haven't lived in Texas for about 20 years. Are you not allowed to choose where you want to go to school? In Florida, most people typically go where they are zoned, but you can pick whatever school you want to go to (public, private, charter), as long as they have room and you are accepted. I take it that is not the case in Texas?

No, you go to the school you are zoned to within the school district you live in (and pay school taxes to)

I don't know if it's the rules themselves or the enforcement that's gotten lax in the past several years but HS transfers have gotten crazy in Texas.

Especially with open-enrollment schools which is how South Oak Cliff, Duncanville, DeSoto, and Northshore build HS football juggernauts.
