I'm excited. We just booked an Air BnB right outside of Shenandoah NP for the last weekend of October. Hoping for great foliage, hiking and stars.

We really enjoyed scrambling around at Bearfence. We were there in Mid October and the leaves had yet to reach peak foliage so I hope you'll get there just at the right time.

We also did a side trip to Luray caverns and stopped by Manassas on our way back to the airport.

Taking the family on Monday for a week at Glacier NP. This is been a bucket list item for us so looking forward to visiting for the first time. Later in the month we'll be heading to Mt Rainier to cross another park off the list

Did a quick hike up to Sky Pond in September in RMNP.

Another trip to RMNP. This was an easy stroll up the Colorado River Trail on the West side of the park.

Ok so this is not a NP. Medicine Bow up in Wyoming but still a good place to visit

My son actually asked to go hiking so we ran up to RMNP and hit Nymph, Dream, Emerald, and Haiyaha.

Fantastic fall/winter for you!

Sky Pond is a favorite!

And I think Capital Reef is so underrated!

Great pics. Where did you stay near lower calf creek? We've stayed in Escalante before and liked it. It was a good jumping off point for a few days. I need to go back, though. I got all the way down into the Peekaboo wash and sprained my ankle so had to hike out and never got into the canyon. I feel incomplete.

It has been good. Getting a decent number of hikes in. I'm hoping to get a few more in weather permitting. We did Capitol Reef 2 years ago for 1/2 a day so when the schedule worked out we really wanted to visit again and spend more time. I'd love to do a few more things there given the chance again.

We ended up staying in Torrey UT. We did a VRBO for 2 nights.

Sat we drove from Fort Collins to Torrey with the stop in Goblin Valley State Park for a few hours. Sunday we got up and did the Golden Throne in CRNP, then Cassidy Arch, then the Grand Wash. Got in ~1700 feet of gain and over 10 miles. So a good day. Got up early Monday and drove to lower calf creek. Took 1:10 to get there. After that hike we did 2 days in Tropic UT.

The end of the trip was supporting CSU's womens VB (I work at CSU) in the MW VB tournament in Vegas. Did Hoover Dam but didn't get any hiking in this year around Vegas. We have the last couple of years but the wife and kid wanted some lazy days....

I hate not getting in the hikes I planned. Then I just have to go back....which can be a pain for one hike you really want to do.

Torrey UT rental - This is where we stayed. It was brand new and very nice. Fit our family of 3 perfectly. Torrey even had some good food. Great place to stay but during the high season it looks pretty pricey.
