How is Tahoe hiking in early June? Are a lot of the trails still snow covered? Or does it just depend on the year?
depends on the year... they've got a CRAZY snow pack right now.

That area of the Sierra Nevadas gets some of the highest annual snowfall totals in the CONUS. A good year in Colorado is 300" or so... they regularly get 500+" around there.

That being said... it really depends on the next 2 months and how much they continue to get and how warm it gets in April/May.

It can get pretty slushy there in the Spring time since it's lower altitude than the rockies.

Heavenly has already had 330" this year...

White water?

We did the middle fork of the American. Pretty awesome and had some class 4's. Had to drive to Auburn and it was a long day… like 6am to 730pm door to door from south lake but awesome times!

Still my opinion that the Sierras have the best powder in north america. Park City a close second.

Bump bc we are considering making the trip. For those that have been with young kids in the summer, how many nights do you usually spend there? Cabin or resort condo?

Been a while, but stayed at the Hyatt in Incline Village. Wasn't as busy as south lake but was easy for day trips. And a must….Virginia City and the bucket of blood saloon!

And, minor detail…..casino in the hotel.

We leave tomorrow. I have most of it planned out but would love a casual spot for lunch with 8 and 11 yo boys for lunch in Truckee before rafting. Will update with more info when we get back. This will be my 3rd time and my husband and kids first time. Can't wait, and I've never been to Truckee

Was in Truckee on Monday. Didn't get to hit any restaurants but the downtown strip had several options that looked legit.

Aight, we're Team Tahoe.

We've been in Oregon for 4 years and been in Tahoe for the past week. Our hobbies are: skiing, MTB, gravel bike, SUP and hiking. This place is the GOAT.

We in 'da van and there's a Lutheran Church in Tahoe City that does Harvest Host. So we're posted up in their parking lot (with a generous tithe).

I rode Northstar resort today, Flume yesterday and Stanford Rock the day before. Each afternoon spent exploring some shore / beach / cove. We floated the Truckee on Friday.

Wife has already green lit a ski trip (8 hour drive from Portland). But it's a different stratosphere for our "normal" summer and winter getaway - which is Bend, Black Butte and Sunriver Resort. We'll drive the extra 5 hours for this!

We ski Meadows on Hood and it's a kick in the gut seeing Palisades and Northstar. Reminds me of growing up skiing Breck. I thought I was just in it for the turns, but it's nice to have nice things after skiing too! And so many options!

Above poster is lying, Tahoe sucks. Glorified hill country. Don't go.

Any fresh Recommendations for restaurants in Truckee, Incline Village, or Tahoe City?

Looking for nice dinner spot after a round of golf in Truckee

No, but will this year! Wife fell in love and she's a fair weather skier (she gets maybe 14 days/yr on the OR hills). I'll take any edge to get her skiing more.

Is this Heavenly Ski Resort? I've only been in the summer but want to check it out in the winter once our kids get a bit older. We have stayed close to Heavenly when we've gone in the summer.

We much preferred North to South - so leaning Palisades / Alpine meadows or Northstar. You ski either?

given your ability, palisades would be great.

That being said, you've got the ski 1 day at Heavenly to mark it off. There's some pretty sweet terrain on it.

I have no clue. My wife is booking something today. This is a last minute add on to an existing road trip.

90 didn't chime back in but I'll be headed there with wife and two sons (16/18) first week of July. The only thing we are pretty sure we are doing is jet skis on Emerald Bay (assuming they are not booked already). We need to figure out the rest of our time pretty soon...any ideas are appreciated...

Hike Mt. Talluc. White water raft middle fork of the American River. Float the Truckee. Take the lift up on Heavenly and do some of the stuff up there (ropes course, zip lining).

Beach at zephyr cove (or many of the coves on the east side).

Get a das boot at Himmel Haus.

I highly suggest the middle fork trip. It's a full day adventure but your boys will love that. Legit white water. Lunch on the beach. Cliff diving. Eating wild blackberries from the raft as they overhang the river.
Very memorable experience.
