And tell the kids no shave ice until they can spell humuhumunukunukuapua'a. Hilarity will ensue.

If you decide to go to Tunnels, lmk and I can pin drop you a parking area that's like 50 yards from the beach that looks like it's private property but it's really an abandoned access easement alley that's public parking. It's not labeled and the local hella won't tell you about it. It's a great alternative if you can't get reserved state parking at Ha'ena State Park.

Can I get that pin drop too? Email in profile. Thanks man.

We had a 3 bed 3 bath. We got there in the evening, and I recommend marking your park location so you can find your way back to your parking spot.

We had the only two story on the property and we backed up to a golf course. The pool is nice and large and long, and was pretty empty when we were there. I liked the clubhouse with the pool tables, but we didn't try the restaurant but it was always busy.

It was really quiet and peaceful, we walked from the clubhouse to our lodge at night, and Kauai gets quiet in the evenings it was nice, very clean, with a nice large kitchen, I think 3 tvs, nice and clean tables and furniture. . We had three indoor bathrooms, and two of them were huge.

One thing about our lodge was the large bed was a queen, and the two other beds were twins. I guess that is the only criticism, but it didn't matter to us.

I would highly recommend it. You are on the south side of Kauai, so you are five minutes from Poipu, but you would have to drive a couple of hours or so if you wanted to go to pricnceville or places on the north side. But you are also close to the airport on the south side.

Given it a little more thought, and the Lodge really captivated the tranquility of Kauai. its peaceful, quiet, beautiful, and has a lot to offer and you can have fun there too.

I actually look into buying a timeshare or condo in Kauai once I got back, but then I figured why? The Lodge is there.

Fishing in Kauai is great but it is usually pretty rough. They even have fresh water fishing for peacock bass.
So the greatest civilization is one where all citizens are equally armed and can only be persuaded, never forced. It removes force from the equation... and that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act.

Thank you all!

Just saw this thread. We went Kauai in March for our 25th anniversary. It was my 50th state. We spent 6 full days. I would have liked more hiking, but I feel like we hit the place pretty hard:

Day 1. Stayed in Kapaa at Hale Plantation. Half day kayak and waterfall hike on Wailua River. Good to do when you're still adjusting to time change. Got groceries, relaxed in evening, poke dinner from grocery store.

Day 2. NaPali coast half day raft and snorkel tour. Fantastic. If you get seasick, don't do this. Then 5 mile run in Kapaa near beaches. Dinner at LavaLava. I had the $29 cocktail in the huge bamboo cup. Nice souvenir.

Day 3. Early flight to Honolulu. Chicken breakfast in Honululu hole in the wall. Visited Arizona. Ubered around Honolulu. Ate lunch in China town. Stopped for a few hours at Waikiki Beach. Flew back to Lihue.

Day 4. Made own poke bowls from Pono Market in Kapaa. Drove to Waimea Canyon. Didn't go all the way. Came back to Waimea. Lunch at a black sand beach, awesome shave ice from jojo's, visited coffee Plantation, and went to small art festival in the evening at Hanapepe. Had saimin and ribeye from a food truck with all the locals.

Day 5. Drove to North shore. Tunnels Beach, took anniversary pics, lunch at Hanalei, then Hanalei Beach, toured the house in Hanalei where the first missionaries to Kauai lived (if you've read Michener).

Day 6. Visited a Bible church in Kapaa, ate lunch at a Guy Fieri hole in the wall (awesome and cheap), then Poipu Beach for sea turtles, snorkeling, and more shave ice before heading to the airport.

I had tickets for Haena and didn't use them. Also wanted to hike the mountain in Kapaa (Sleeping Giant). Also would love to visit Polihale Beach someday, drive and hike more in the canyon...but we saw a lot in 5 days (plus one on Oahu). I almost feel sorry for folks who visit the other islands, lol. Kauai was a great choice, and Kapaa was the perfect place to stay. I would have been miserable at those Waikiki resorts.
94chem,
That, sir, was the greatest post in the history of TexAgs. I salute you. -- Dough
