Fly the wife and kids home from DEN on a cheap SWA flight and knock the rest of the drive out yourself. Burning the kids out too bad might make them not want to go on the next adventure. But, you know your kids better than me.

My kids are pretty good road trippers though. We'll see.

Just will say I'd do the Lubbock/Santa Rosa route to ABQ, not Roswell/Vaughn. Lubbock route has more towns/less desolate.

Great idea thanks! Booked the wife and kids on a cheap flight out of Salt Lake City so I'll drop them there at the end of day 1 of the return trip for a night flight home. So they'll only have 1 day on the road on the way back and will have 2 full days to recover before summer camp starts.

Sounds like a great plan and trip! Your family will appreciate flying back over the additional two days driving back.

I may pass you heading up that way from Austin to MT. Not sure of exact dates but probably late June. We need to stop and hit some of those NP too.
