The wife and I are looking to get away for a few days using the new years weekend. My wife wants to go somewhere where there will be snow where we can relax and spend time by a fire and maybe get out and explore a small town or go for winter hikes.

We aren't big skiiers so we aren't necessarily looking for a big ski town unless there are other things to do there as well.

We don't mind renting a car to get us from an airport to where we are going if we need but bonus points if we can get to our location with an uber

Any suggestions?

If you want to spend $$$, fly to most any of the ski towns in Colorado or Utah. Most have lots for non-skiers to do

If you're a cheap redneck like me, drive up to Red River NM

I'm in the PNW.

Cabin with a fireplace and snow reachable by Uber, I'm probs Redmond, OR to Black Butte or Bend or rent a car to Sunriver.

But if renting a car, Seattle to 410, 90, 2 or 20 to an AirBnb will also be buried in snow. We love Welches/Rhododendron, OR for some A-frames nearby, but the surrounding amenities aren't superb. But you'll get a wood fired stove and snow.

Fly to Eagle Co and stay in Vail. Or fly direct to Aspen

Both easy Uber to your accommodations

What's the winter hiking like in Vail or Aspen?

Vail or Park City. Never been to Aspen, but it would probably fit the bill also.
