If you could retire to any country besides the US, which would it be and why?
Isn't Belize dangerous? I've only been to the cruise port but they warned people going outside of the cruise port.Quote:
Belize. Probably Placencia. I would like the diving and the fishing, and being able to grown fruits and garden year around. I'd like the simple lifestyle, and I'd adjust to no AC, and take in the warm Caribbean air. I'd also like being only a two hour flight to Houston for health care.

This is neither here not there, but just heard about an old timer here at work that was set to retire starting today.
He died in his sleep last Wednesday.
They didn't ask what we would do within our current ability to afford it. Retiring to LC is my "when I win the lottery" plan. My dad had a grand plan of selling the house and buying a sailboat to retire on. My mom told him he could do that with his second wife. The Chicken Ranch said:txags92 said:

I could do that also! It would be more expensive though.
Joining a sailboat community appeals to me also, however, the hurricane insurance is killer. Plus you have to get them south during the season.
The rub is prone to seasickness and problems wouldn't do well on crossings.
Yeah, Australia used to be high on my list of bug out locations, but Covid and their climate change stuff has killed that idea.SW AG80 said:

I hope you bought, because I've heard there are no places to rent in Tuscany.
Spent 6 weeks there last summer, great country.bthotugigem05 said:
Australia. Live here now and absolutely love it, no sign of the covid stuff any longer.
My sister and her husband lived in Toowoomba and then Port Douglas for a couple of years and loved it. They were planning on moving back there at some point, but they dropped those plans after covid.bthotugigem05 said:
