Rome to CDG; CDG back over the pond. It will be different flights, so will need to get baggage. Anybody have experience with amount of time that is good to have? 3 hours sufficient? Thanks all.

3 is fine. Less than 2 is where you get iffy.
Last time I had a connection there, I got pulled aside in passport control (still no idea why) and it took forever to get through.

I connected CPH-CDG-DFW last summer and I don't think we had to collect our bags or anything. We had to change terminals, but I don't remember anything about collecting or rechecking bags.
I pulled up the records and we had a 1:55 layover with enough time to grab breakfast and sit around for an hour.
Edit, I'm guessing you mean completely separate itineraries and not just a connection on the same confirmation number. So disregard anything I said.
