Wife is looking for a snowy Christmas town to spend a few days in Dec. Any suggestions?

3rd for this one. It's a quaint town with lots of nice shops/restaurants/bars. There's also a lot of winter outdoor activities there.

Was also going to mention Solvang but not much chance for snow though.

Banff or Vienna for sure, have done 3 in each. Salzburg is great too.

Surprisingly I had a good Christmas in Vegas once.

Just no to Aspen.

We're a south Texas family that ended up in the PNW. I was on the "ski team/ski school" from 6th grade to 10th" from an ISD in the Kitsap Peninsula.

Leavenworth, WA was an amazing Christmas town in the Cascade Range. Great memories. Highly recommended.

Disclaimer, I have not been in the Cascades to ski/party since the mid 90's.

the Christmas markets in Prague are insanely overpacked. My wife and I really enjoyed Vienna.

Vienna is great. I have been to Prague many times. I love it. Wenceslas square, New Years Eve. Crazy. I have been to all those places I mentioned for Christmas and NY. Friendliest, Budapest. Europe at Christmas is just great.

it was just too packed in at night for me. some people love that atmosphere. but, i want a little more space to move about. we did get snowed on which made it awesome.

Prague is my second favorite city, after Paris. Try Prague in the summer.

Another log on the fire for Leavenworth. Beautiful german town that is beautiful during the holidays. We went right as they were setting everything up. No snow on the ground yet so bright, beautiful, sunny but chilly days.

I'm a german food/beer/aesthetic junkie. Being there when decorated for the holidays was a bonus.

Europe Christmas Markets are in a league of their own as far as Christmas trip possibilities....for US, Stowe/New England we've done a couple of times over the holidays and really liked it. Obv you can't go wrong with places in CO like Crested Butte, Steamboat, Ouray.....but New England has a vibe thats hard to beat for Christmas-feels. One of the years we tacked on a few nights in Boston, and the other Montreal - both were great as far as big-city Christmas.

100% this. I had never heard of this place until this thread and now I'm thinking about changing my annual nyc Christmas trip to here. It looks incredible.

Logistics wise I'm coming from Houston and usually fly United. Do most people fly into Seattle and make the two hour drive? I'm not really comfortable driving in snow so if there were any other options (shuttle, taxi train) I would prefer that.

The trip from Seattle to Leavenworth is very scenic. Another good option to view the scenery is Amtrak from Seattle to Leavenworth.

I'd probably drive to Cloudcroft, NM, and leave the kitsch in the ditch.

You need something else beyond the town, though, to make it worth an actual trip.

You'll cover the market in an afternoon. And if you haven't booked something yet, good luck. You can try Wenatchee, make the drive and fight for parking.

Steven's can get gnarly, even in December. We're back in La Nina, so woot for more snow!

I love Leavenworth. We're there in two weeks to needle peep the Larches in the Enchantments and Colchuck Lake. But personally, the Village of Lights is gaudy, so crowded and not our jam.

We're back in Park City again this year for Christmas. It's beautiful.
