I had to share my experience with my most recent trip.
If you are looking for a US city that is a quick nonstop flight from Texas. This is your place, I most certainly consider myself a foodie and Charleston did not disappoint. I'll leave you guys with a list of my favorites and some pics as well. I also visited Boon Hall Plantation, Cypress Gardens, the Angel Oak tree.

We did a food tour our first day in Charleston and it was really great. The food tour itself was good, but the best part was really just walking the streets with the guide and getting recommendations for the rest of the trip.

Edit: we do what we can to do a food tour and/or a cooking class everywhere we go.

I would do a historical and or architectural tour of the Historic District and just look at menus of all the resturants around that area

There are plenty of places that are very good in the area....Any suggestions I have seen on any thread are pretty much a good choice. Do not skimp of the food here...double a proposed food budget

as for me

82 Queen is a must of there for more than 2 days....just the vibe and food are great dinner is a cool atmosphere and get the she crab soup for a low country great choice

Cru Cafe was great for a lunch...think Blue Baker in CS on steroids but you wont go wrong

I think it was Charleston Culinary Tours but honestly not 100% sure....it was a trip piggy backed w/ A&M's first trip to South Carolina...so been awhile.

My wife and I went a couple months back and loved it. As a whole the food was great - the best restaurant we ate at was Chubby Fish. 167 Sushi was excellent as well and Chez Nous was also really nice (although we probably would try somewhere else for a fancy-ish dinner next time).

For cocktails, highly recommend Doar Bros, Annex at Last Saint, and The Gin Joint. We liked The Bar at The Spectator too.

I did the food tour with Bulldog tours and really enjoyed it.

Don't forget Vegas. I think there was a stickied megathread but it went away.

We went last year, our faves were Church & Union, Magnolia's and Hall's Chop House. So many good food options there.

I agree, it's hard for a city to impress me with so many wonderful food stops and selections. Charleston most certainly did.

Charleston is New Orleans without the vice. Great place to visit. I did it in conjunction with a trip to the 2016 game at USC, but joined a group to bus over to Columbia and back; don't know that I would recommend doing that drive back post-game on my own.

Glad this thread is up because we are going first week of March.

Church and Union is really cool, and the food is good, too. We loved it there.

My favorite meal in Charleston was at SNOB. But there are so many good places, it's hard to compare. It would take forever to hit them all.

The best way to describe it is a classy new Orleans.

Luuuuv Charleston and been there many times. All the recs on texags have been $$$$. But I never leave that city without hitting Hanks

I disagree. I thought the food was extremely bland unless you love asian food. But to each there own.....I add Savannah to the list for foodies

Some pretty good places on Hilton Head Island too if you're ever in the area. I've lived in SC for a about 6 years and we love to spend a few days on HHI throughout the year.
