We are flying into Atlanta and then driving to the Auburn game. We will likely spend a day/night in Atlanta and none of us have ever been there before. Any recommendations for bars, breweries and restaurants?

Westin Peachtree has awesome views from the higher floors. Restaurant on the 72nd floor has great views as well.

Stuff to do within a short walk:
College Football HOF
World of Coke
GA Aquarium
Kool

The Aquarium is really world class. Worth a trip. If you can, though, get out of the city and go to Tallulah Falls about an hour and a half north of the city.
Two Urban Licks has good eats, and South City Kitchen is tres Atlanta. If you want to say you went there, and you have a strong stomach and can stay within close range of a restroom, The Varsity is good for a terrible, greasy meal.

Thanks for the recs so far! We would also like to hear any recommendations for game day in Auburn if you have them. It'll be our first time there as well.

Take an UBER to Ponce City Market. Grab a bite and drink in the food hall. Then find the exit to the Atlanta Beltline. Walk South on the Beltline and there are tons of bars and restaurants including a brewery called New Realm. Other spots along the Beltline: Breaker Breaker, Floridaman (above Breaker Breaker) Muchacho, Nina and Rafi, Ladybird to name a few. This all assumes good weather to be outside walking and drinking.

If the weather is conducive, the botanical garden is awesome! Also, I second the hiking recommendations if you have time and car access; Anna Ruby Falls in Helen is worth the trip! Aldo, the Dwarf House (just north of the airport, the birthplace of the CFA sandwich) is a great stop, particularly if you have kids.

Brick Store Pub in downtown Decatur, there's also lots of other restaurants to choose from as well. Raging burrito/Twains brewery.

Eddies Attic is also there, it's a small live music venue. Locals will perform or bands depending on the schedule.

I haven't been over that way in many years but it was a blast while I was near.

Was also going to recommend Decatur area. Spent several days there for work a few weeks ago. Nice area with good restaurants.

La Grotta Ristorante: imagine a speakeasy Italian restaurant. This place is in the basement of an apartment building and has fantastic food!

Sister Louisa's Church of the Living Room and Ping Pong Emporium: a unique bar experience that is definitely not for everyone. Funky dive bar full of creative, mostly religious satire artwork with church organ karaoke and ping pong tournaments on certain nights of the week. If you hit the right night, it can be as crazy and strange as it sounds.

This sounds interesting and like something we would like!

I will second the Georgia Aquarium and The World of Coca Cola. Best aquarium experience I have ever had. The Coke museum was fun.

The Varsity is a burger place near Georgia Tech. It is greasy and felt like a 50s diner.

The aquarium is awesome and we had a lot of fun at the College Football Hall of Fame.
