Wife and I are thinking about planning a 25th anniversary trip next Summer to Lake Tahoe/Reno area.

Never have been and don't know anything about the area. Any recommendations on resorts, nice hotels to stay at for an anniversary?

Activities? Restaurants?

Edgewood Tahoe.

Take her to dinner at the resort restaurant around sunset.

I think that's a great idea for a trip. We loved Tahoe and will be back again soon. We much, much preferred the North Side to the South Side. We stayed in an AirBnB so I can't comment on a resort, but I would highly recommend Tahoe City if you can find a place.

Things to do:
-Eat at Cafe Fiore. Aggie owned and very intimate setting for an anniversary dinner.
-Our favorite beach was Sand Harbor Beach. All of the beaches were nice but Sand Harbor had the best combo of sand, walking trails, and different scenic views all in one spot.
-Go take pictures at the lookouts over Emerald Bay. If you like hiking, I'd recommend Eagle Falls while you're there. Get there early or late because parking is an absolute nightmare.
-Take pictures from Eagle Rock. The hike isn't too bad and the views are awesome.
-Take the short drive to Truckee. Lots of shops, restaurants, walking trails, biking trails, and/or fishing available.

I have a whole list of things that were just ok and some we didn't enjoy at all, so if you want more feedback just throw out more ideas.

Recommendations:

Bite Restaurant
Secret Cove Beach

Rent a boat (and captain) and get out on the lake. Beautiful place.

Make sure you make reservations for Cafe Fiore. And that is a great place to eat.

Before you go keep track of forest fires in northern California. One year, before we knew better, we went to Tahoe with bad fires in northern California. The smoke from those fires settles down in the Lake Tahoe basin. It was miserable. Even in our room we smelled smoke. We stayed about 3 days then caught an early flight back to Texas. When we pulled up to our hotel all employees were wearing mask because of the smoke. Pissed me off that the hotel did not contact us before we flew in to let us know how bad the smoke was. A couple of years later we completely cancelled our trip to Tahoe because of the California fires.

There are several concerts at the amphitheater on Lake Tahoe. It is behind the Harvey (I think) Hotel and Casino. We have been twice to concerts there. It is really nice to wear blue jeans and sweat shirts to a concert in the summer.

Drive up to Truckee, California. Neat little town. Eat breakfast or lunch at the Squeeze Inn. When you see it you will understand its name.

We go to Tahoe at least once a year, winter or summer, to ski or MTB/SUP/play on the lake.

Sand Harbor is the large, famous, touristy beach. You won't get parking if you're not in line by 6AM. Park at Bullwheel, eat breakfast at Tunnel Creek and take the shuttle.

Chimney Beach is our favorite. It has some of the clearest water and tons of small private pockets along the rocks to set up and play for the day.

Floating the Truckee River from Tahoe City to Palisades is fun!

If you like bikes, there are some great riding on Toad's and the Flume. There's a shuttle that runs from Bullwheel/Flume Trail Bikes up to Marlette Lake. Then you ride the Flume Trail all the way back down. Unrivaled views of the lake; literally exposed cliff side the entire way down. Incredible. Stanford Rock is super fun near Tahoe City.

The Hangar in South Lake is a fun brewery green space with food trucks. Tons of places to get take out near Kings Beach and eat on the beach and watch the sunset.
