I like Omni Berkshire Place. Great location right near Rockefeller Center.

We stayed at The Park Central. Two blocks from Central Park, and a short walk to Times Square.
The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But, it's still on the list.

Hyatt Centric Times Square. Can get a high room, not a huge place so it's easy in/out, one block from Times Square but surprisingly quiet. Great bar on 52nd floor you can go to after kids go to bed. Reasonably priced too.

Thumbs up from me too on Hyatt Centric Times Square. Great central location and reasonably priced. Try to get a high up corner room overlooking Times Square. There is also a great Irish Pub, Connolly's, almost next door. Easy to stop in for lunch/dinner/snack.

Lotte palace. Right between Saks and st Patrick's. Rooms are twice the size as regular NYC hotel rooms

Stayed most recently at the Fifth Avenue Hotel in NoMad. Don't normally stay that far North, but it was a very enjoyable experience. You need to go for a mansion suite or larger to make sure you don't have a very small room though.
