At IAH now. Traffic was light, TSA security line in C had no wait, very surprised. Flight into CO delayed 2 hours because of weather. Much easier that I thought it was going to be today.

Busy Friday Dec 27 at iah but no excuse to United or iah to have one person in terminal b handling all the wheelchairs. Flights went ok with about an hour delay.

Yup. It'll save your life. Download the app, and when you land, upload your info into MPC. and you'll skip a FAT part of the line. MPC has its own lane. Not sure why more people don't use it. I assume because they don't know about it.

"After downloading the MPC Application from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, eligible travelers will be prompted to create a profile with their passport or LPR card information. Upon arrival at eligible Preclearance locations users must select their mode of entry in the application as "Preclearance" before selecting their departing Preclearance Port of Entry. If a traveler is not using preclearance, upon landing in the United States, travelers will select "U.S. airport" as their mode of entry and then select their arrival airport or seaport and terminal. Travelers will then take a self-photo and answer a series of CBP inspection-related questions. Once the traveler submits their transaction through the app, travelers will then bring their physical passport to a CBP officer to finalize their inspection for entry into the United States."

"MPC provides a more efficient in-person inspection between the CBP officer and the traveler. Since the administrative tasks are performed by the traveler prior to the passport control inspection, MPC reduces passport control inspection time and overall wait times."

Just an interesting observation about MPC vs Global Entry.

Note: I used MPC in Montreal last spring, and breezed through the line super fast. The regular customs line was so long/backed up that my flight was delayed for 40 min waiting for passengers to make it through. The only reason I knew about the app was because Air Canada sent me an email the night before with instructions on how to download the app and use it.

Yesterday in Calgary, I went in the Global Entry line, my BF and his kids went in the MPC line, and my son went in the "I have neither" line. None of the lines were very long. There were two families in front of me, and it was about the same for the other two lines.

My son made it through first, no problems. I got through shortly after him, and after asking "do you have any food or merchandise" and me saying "no", the agent just waived me through. Didn't even look at my passport (he did scrutinize the travel docs of the woman and kids in front of me).

BF and his kids in the MPC line took the longest. They were several minutes behind me. The agent scrutinized their passports and asked a lot of annoying questions that neither I nor my son were asked.

I was talking to a Canadian woman who lives here, and they gave her a hard time in the MPC line, too.

I didn't use the MPC app because when I opened it, it said not to complete the forms until you arrive at your destination, and I was confused if destination meant YYC or IAH.

I have since learned it meant YYC, and you have 4 hours to get through customs once you complete the forms in the app (in case anyone is wondering).

With the lines as short as they were yesterday, I think the mood of the agent who reviews your documents matters more than what line you're in.

All in all, not too bad for my clients.

12/24 - had clients affected by the groundstop BUT luckily their 2nd flight was also delayed 2 hours, so they made it to St. Lucia. Also had 8 clients flying to Cancun, theirs was only mildly delayed, so all was good there. There was a Texager I sold insurance to that had luggage issues.
12/25 - Smooth sailing for clients flying into Cancun.
12/27 - Not airline, but 4 cruise cabins got off great.

Next set of clients don't leave until 12/30, but it should hopefully be fine. I'm a little worried about the folks flying home 1/1 since it will be crazy busy, but hoping no issues.

I used the MPC app last night at IAH. It was the slowest line, and the guy working it still asked for everything that the app asked for. So I didn't think it sped anything up.

I did get my approval for GE! Yay! We finished our interviews upon arrival.

So using the MPC app is now a moot point anyway.

Safe and happy travels to all!

Did you just interview with the agent processing you through or did you go to an office after passing through ?

If anyone is going through DFW today or tomorrow, be prepared for cascading delays. 45mph crosswinds earlier today from the Northwest, which is very atypical and rough for where DFW is situated. They had a ground stop briefly and are now back in north flow but still be prepared for an adventure.

When you exit Passport Control and go to the left toward the stairs, you see the Passport Control booths on your right for non-US citizens. At the end that that row of booths, you will see a sign that says "Conditionally Approved Global Entry Interviews Upon Arrival"….Go there. It takes about 10 minutes per person.

I was in CRP for a trip to MCO. We always have to fly through DFW.

We boarded our plane (for an 0830 flight) only to be told that DFW had a ground stop due to winds. Said it would take about an hour for the next update. We were allowed to reboard around 1000.

AND...after boarding we were told...another DFW ground stop. It was a charlie foxtrot there. Only the 2 outer runways could be used due to the crosswinds.

Got out of CRP around 1300 and got to DFW.

Finally checked into my hotel in Orlandoat 0015 EST the next day...

I avoid connecting through DFW like the plague. Sometimes it's unavoidable for me, but IAH always seems like a better option with fewer problems.

What a nightmare.
