This post is late, but we tripped to the Cayman Islands this summer. Had an amazing time!

We spent a week at Little Cayman at Little Cayman Beach Resort https://littlecayman.com/ for Kids Sea Camp https://familydivers.com/ . Then we stayed there extra nights at Sunset House https://sunsethouse.com/ to do some extra dives together as a family, and to meet my Mom and Step Dad there.

It was a trip for the books! I simply cannot recommend the folks at Kids's Sea Camp enough. They put on a great week, and make it fun for everyone. The instruction that the kids get is just simply the best. And the kids make friends from all over the country that they will keep in touch with. This was our second KSC trip, the first being to Bonaire previously. We are definitely doing another trip with them very soon.

Little Cayman simply just some of the best diving in the Caribbean. The resort is very comfortable and their dive operation is about the best in the islands. I high recommend going there if you like to dive. It is very remote, and there isn't much else on the island.

Sunset House on Grand is a different vibe. It is also a dive resort and has a top notch operation, while not at the level of LC. They did a good job for us, putting together two days (5 dives) of diving that were within my C Monster's dive limits of 40'. (Most people won't do this for kids, especially on the first dive of the day.) While we like Sunset House, it would be hard to dive with them for a week because they only dive the west side of GC. They don't go to the north wall or the NW side. I would definitely go back there, but only for a 3-4 night type stay. (I really like the dives on the north wall at GC, but those can be deep.)

Note. If you arrive and depart on a Saturday or Sunday, and are connecting to a Cayman Airways flight to Little or Brac, allow AT LEAST three hours to go back through security at Grand, and the same on leaving. Their security line is no joke on turnaround days.

(Thanks to KSC for their watermarked pictures)

Sunrise at LCBR the first day.

The bar at LCBR. They let you paint and hang up driftwood signs. Seems like other Ags have been here also. Look for our KSC sign, and my C Monster's Texas Flag sign she painted if you go.

These little guys are everywhere!

This family picture was supposed to be taken underwater celebrating my 500th dive. The seas were nasty and that dive was canceled, so we did it on land.
My whole family the last night on Grand before dinner. L-R: TCR, Mama TCR, Step Dad TCR, The C Monster, Mrs. TCR.

Sounds like a good time! I really want to go back to LCBR soon, but we have some other trips we want to do ahead of that. The diving on LC is just so easy and relaxing (as long as the wind and sea conditions cooperate) that it is it hard to want to go anywhere else. Are they still seeing sharks fairly regularly on the north side?

They are all over Saint Martin too. Some drunk French idiot was messing with one and it bit his pinky toe off.

Not an activity, but have dinner at Tillies at Palm Heights Hotel. I recommend the snapper. It's enough for three people and you eat on the beach.

We saw Lemon Sharks quite regularly, and the usual Nurse Sharks.

Yes, our last two days had canceled dives because of rough seas at a weird angle on the cut. The KSC folks rented a van for us one of the days they canceled dives, and loaded us all up and took us all to a private beach that Southern Cross Club owns, and we all snorkeled that day. Then the next day, they organized activities for kids like a beach clean up and a field trip to keep them busy (That's why KSC is so awesome! They do that, not the resort.)

And I agree with you now! It's better than North Wall at GC! I had only dove Bloody Bay Wall once prior when we stayed at Brac.

It's right up there with a week at Turneffe Island.

Interesting on the lemon sharks as I have never seen one there. For many years (1998 to 2019) there was one good-sized tagged Caribbean reef shark that hung around the far end of the Jackson's Bight section (Jackson's wall/Nancy's area) and other than her, nurse sharks were all you saw. Even seeing her was a 1-2 times per week kind of thing. Every once and a while there was a second smaller one that would show up after the DMs started culling lion fish. However, since the Covid shutdown, seeing 1-2 reef sharks per day has not been unusual, and they are being seen at sites all up and down the north side. It really is nice to see more of them showing up, as predators make for a healthier ecosystem.

Where would be the ideal place for a family to stay, kids aged 5-11 that like hanging at the beach, snorkeling, swimming in the pool after a long day at the beach. If an Airbnb, which area?

We stayed a little over a week at a Villas of the Galleon property right in 7mile and would highly recommend the location. Nice wide properly with all units very close to beach… sits between the Ritz and the Westin for easy access to some of their bars, restaurants etc. if you want. The knock on the property by some is that it doesn't have a pool on the grounds but i can't imagine needing a pool when there is a giant calm crystal clear beach right there. We love floating around through sunset and well after with a drink in hand.
