...always been a bucket list trip of mine to go over and pay respects. Six of us, (three couples ~65 years of age), are going and going to spend the first few days in Normandy, then on to London for a week or so. We have someone to stay with in London, just need to figure out how to get to Paris, then Bayeux, France, then to London from Bayeux. Don't know if it's better / less expensive to fly into and out of Paris, or into Paris, out of London, etc...I know this is kind of a longshot, but short of trying to plan this myself I thought I'd use the power of Texags to see what I might come up with.

We just recently used the Eurostar Train from London to Paris and were pleased with its ease.

Bayeux is a neat town. Be sure to see the tapestry. If you want to do a D-Day tour, I highly recommend Dale Booth tours. Book early for his tour.

You take the Eurostar train from London St Pancras to Paris Gare du Nord. From there, you take a taxi or the Metro to Gare St Lazare and take the train to Caen (if you want to pick up a rental car) or Bayeux (if you are not planning to drive). Get a pro tour guide for at least part of your D-Day sightseeing. For your group, I think I'd get a private guide, but the small group tours (like Overlord) that base in Bayeux also are a good option.

I believe there is a budget airline that flies into Caen, but you'd probably have to get to one of London's more remote airports to do that.

If you would prefer a travel advisor to plan Normandy and all of the logistics of group travel I've worked with several Texags on these type of trips. My contact info is in my Bio.

Wear something warm on the D Day tour. I was there this May, weather was about the same as it was on D-Day. It was freaking cold with that wind blowing in off of the Atlantic. I was in jeans, sweatshirt and a jacket. I wished I had a beanie and gloves.

Went this summer and you can spend 3-4 days in Normandy. Aside from the war stuff, there are plenty of castles, neat towns, Mont St Michel, etc.

Bayeux is really cool but note that the Bayeux tapestry museum is closed for renovations for a couple years.

I had clients a few months ago stay in Bayeux and did the tour with Dale Booth Normandy Tours.
I've heard nothing but good things about them.

I've done a few trips with clients starting in London and then head to Paris and then on to Bayeux/Normandy and it seems to be a good mix of Europe for everyone.
