Planning a trip to NYC for Easter weekend for family of 4. This will be our 3rd trip so somewhat familiar with area. Looking for hotel recommendations. We are planning for 4 nights and looking for something centrally located. Last trips we stayed at the NY Palace across from St Patrick's cathedral but looking for something different this time.

NY Palace is solid. The Andaz 5th Ave & Times Square Edition hotels are close by and in a similar price range.

If you're looking to splurge, the Peninsula & Ritz Carlton are hard to beat!

Happy to answer questions or help if you're looking for perks along with your reservation.

All I know is that the hotels in NYC have gotten insane the last few years. Going in May for a road race and a 3 day weekend is looking like a minimum of $1k for hotels near Manhattan. Last year it was 1k for 5 days around the same time.

Pro tip: you're a family of 4, so it's much easier to find a room, however we're a family of 5 and The Langham on 5th has a family suite that is gigantic and it's so centrally located in midtown. Hard to stay anywhere else as a family.

Been to NYC several times. We just got back last week and stayed at the Marriott Marquis - Times Square. Can't beat the location if you want to be centrally located and enjoy the Times Square area. Spent most of our time from Central Park to around 40th Street. Can't beat the location if you are going to any shows. You also get a $40.00 per day credit at the hotel that you can use at the restaurant that looks over Times Square or the restaurant that rotates on the 47th floor. We did the Intrepid tour, including the submarine, and really enjoyed it. Have a great trip.

I've always stayed in Midtown but wanted to stay farther south so I am going to give this place a shot.

That looks like a great location. I was in town hitting some East Village spots a couple of weeks ago and stayed at The Standard East Village. It is slightly more expensive, but not crazy, and it offers great walking access to lots of cool restaurants and bars. If the bulk of your trip is not midtown centric, then it is a great base for exploring lower Manhattan. Still easy to take the subway up if you have a few things to do uptown.

Last time I was in Washington Sq there were a lot of homeless people. Has that improved recently?

Anyone have a NYC car service recommendation for rides from LAG to Midtown and back?

Also hopping on this thread. Haven't been to NY in 20 years but might make a quick weekend trip up there next weekend. My wife loves Kelly Clarkson and got selected for studio tickets next Friday for her show, so we are looking at that possibility. My question is about safety given all the recent developments. Anyone able to speak to that? If the show tapes at 30 Rock, I assume it makes the most sense to stay around there? Any thoughts?

Edit: disregard. Just saw she isn't even hosting that week so saved myself a trip.
