Anybody here attended a Sunday Mass at the Vatican? Looking to attend but having trouble getting good details. It looks like there are several Holy Mass Celebrations at the Alter of St. Joseph (7/7:30/9/10), the Altar of the Cathedra (11/12/5/7) and then there is the Angelus at noon.

Our group is pretty flexible on the time so looking for detail from others.

My wife really wants to attend Mass since the Angelus is not a substitute. If you attend the 10 or 11 am service does it put you in a better position to step out for the Angelus in the St. Peter's Square?

The Mass times you have listed are the daily Mass times. Sunday Mass times would be 7/8/9/10:30/12:30/4/5/6.

We did the 10:30am (Holy Mass Chapter Altar of the Cathedra). It got out around 11:30/11:45 and then the Angelus at noon in the square.

Depending on when you'll be there (busy season or big feast days) I'd plan to get to the Vatican at least an hour early to go through the security search and get a seat inside St. Peter's.

The other option is the 9am, go grab coffee and a pastry nearby and then walk back to the square around 11:30/11:45 for the Angelus.

Edit: I believe they also post the days where there will be a Papal Mass (celebrated by the Pope). In which case everything changes haha

My family went to Rome last year to celebrate the Jubilee. Tickets are typically not required for mass, but they were last year. We reserved tickets 4 months in advance and went to get them the evening before mass as instructed. They apparently changed their reservation system a month after we got them and our tickets were "lost". Despite having printed emails with confirmation info on it, they would not give us tickets. The Vatican guard told us to show up early and we could still likely get in. We arrived 2 hours before mass and it was already full, so we attended mass from St. Peter's square where they live streamed mass on giant screens. Obviously not the same thing but was still a good experience. One benefit is that we were so early that we ended up with front row seats to the Papal audience that was held directly after mass and Pope Leo went right next to us in the Popemobile. He doesn't always go out into the Square after mass, but he did on that day.
