Doha middle of next week

Family and I are traveling to South Africa next week - part work, part play - and are routed through Doha.

We waited as long as we could to book the tickets and at that time it seemed like it would be settled by this point.

Rerouting through London means we lose business class, which would be pretty tough with kids.

We are only in Doha for two hours or so. My friend at Lockheed is pretty convinced it will be a non issue and the internet seems to think Doha is fine.

I don't really have a question lol. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

Weren't there quite a few people who thought they would only be at their ME connection for a few hours that ended up stranded for quite a bit longer?

You will likely be fine but you never know.

Your issue isn't safety on the ground, it's the risk that one or both flights are diverted or canceled and then you're stuck somewhere unexpectedly. Watching the patterns since the war started, it doesn't take much to put inbound aircraft into a holding pattern for hours, often with diversions if things don't open back up before reaching critical fuel levels.

You would have loved flying PanAm Flight 024 nonstop from Dhahran to JFK in Economy Class in the 1970s.

And of course, you wouldn't be able to afford to fly Business Class to Sydney (neither could I, so I'm thankful for American work travel policies - although the Australian ones were even better before I got there).

Not sure what your point or question is other than to let us know that if we see your name on a passenger manifest, we can say, we knew you when.

When I changed planes in Doha last year, it was pretty easy to navigate. I did make it down to the First Class Lounge which was incredible, especially the water feature. Unfortunately, it was a tight connection between Dammam and Dubai so I didn't get to enjoy it for long.
