For a variety of reasons I'm really interested in a trip to El Salvador over the Christmas holidays. I'm looking at a VRBO on the beach somewhere west of La Libertad or near El Zapote.

Would like to get the boys surf lessons and go hike the big volcano near San Salvador. Anything else interesting?

My uninformed opinion is that it's what Costa Rica was 15 years ago and if the current trend continues then it's going to be found quick.

That sounds like a good plan. If you need anyone to reach out to, I have a good friend, who is an avid surfer and lives in La Libertad too. He bought an old beach hotel, and it's now converted to an airbnb. His family has been vacationing there for many many years, and now live there.

I've been to El Tunco a few times. Fun little beach town.
