Family Cruise Question Re Princess Cruises

We've booked a family cruise for next year on Princess. We have 3 rooms adjacent to each other. We have 5 adults and two minor siblings. One minor will be in the same room as their parents. The other will be in an adjacent room with another adult family member. This was done to comply with the double occupancy room rate.

Princess tells us we can't link the rooms together to show that we are a family traveling together. This would appear to create issues with dining together, booking excursions and allowing the parents of the minor in the different room being the recognized adults for any medical care the minor may need.

This concerns me but perhaps this can be resolved once we're on board. Appreciate any advice from those who have traveled with a family group on Princess in the past. Thanks

It's been a few years and on a different cruise line but in a similar situation as yourself. Both parties went to the onboard service desk with their passports and occupants of room A requested a key copy to room B. We also arranged dinner times and table etc. it was simple. Don't count on going to the service desk as soon as you get on the boat because the line will be crazy long.

The more I think about. We went to the dining room as soon as we got on the boat and requested the maitre D. Explained what we needed, slipped him a Jackson and he took care of it.

Edit. The table arrangement

Last thing and I know you didn't ask and my apologies if you are already well versed in cruising. The best money spent in regards to cash tips is for your dinner service. On princess your service is already going to be very good. If you want the king George treatment slip you head waiter/assistants $5 each after each dinner. I also give the maitre D $10 2-3 times over a 7 day cruise. They will absolutely do things for you to make your dinners more memorable.

Thanks! Not "seasoned". This will be our third cruise. Agree about the tips. They're appreciated and do make a difference.

The bookings can be linked together in the Princess reservations system. Anyone telling you differently is clueless. One cabin will need a TWID (Travel With ID) generated in the Princess system and that TWID can be added to the other two cabins in the Princess system to link all three cabins together.

For dining, once the reservations are paid in full, call the Princess Dine Line at 1-833-805-3463 and they can make sure everyone has the same dining time and table.

Yes, you should be able to link everything together with Princess.

We did something similar last year on a Princess cruise when we traveled with my husband's family. My son was in a separate cabin and we didn't have any issues at all coordinating anything.

Just make sure you don't wait too long to book dining reservations. Once your cruise is paid in full, I'd recommend calling the Dine Line to get those secured.

Same goes for excursions, try to book those as early as possible. We actually ran into a situation where Princess canceled most of our excursions for the group, leaving only two people booked. It turned into a bit of a headache trying to sort everything out. In the end, we ended up booking the same tour through a third-party excursion company I use, and it was actually much cheaper and worked out really well.

Enjoy your trip!

Correct. Anytime I have clients traveling together I create a TWID.
