I was born and raised in the Texas panhandle...graduated from aTm in May 2005, and will graduate from the University of OKlahoma, College of Law in May. Against all odds, I chose to take a job in Oklahoma City rather than the places I worked in Texas...I LOVE Oklahoma City, and I say this having spent a great deal of time in Dallas/Fort Worth/Austin/Houston & San Antonio. It's an amazing little city...the people are JUST as nice and friendly as in Texas. I personally intended to return to Texas immediately after graduation, but I have truly found a home here. I'm not saying Oklahoma is better than Texas, I'm still Texan through-and-through, but Oklahoma isn't nearly as bad as everyone in Texas makes it out to be. OKC is an incredible city that is growing and has an amazing liveliness in the newly and continuously renovated "Brick Town"...I suggest you try to make it up for the Big 12 Basketball Championships in 2009, and I have a feeling you might change your tune. I cite the famous phrase "don't knock it until you try it"!!

And I should also say, I am NO Sooner fan, although having gone to school here for three years. I'm still 100% Aggie and have found no love for OU. Just to clarify!!!

05', let me know if you want some tips taking the bar.

Being from West Tx. why didn't you go to school at tceh?

A little heads up, you're going to chit yourself the first time you get a paycheck and see how much the OTC has withheld.

AggieLawyer05, I too am from the panhandle of Texas (Muleshoe to be exact) and I now live in Oklahoma City and absolutely love it! Where did you grow up?

Roveram: I can't wait to take the bar Super excited about that...where do you practice? And I didn't attend Tech because I can't stand Texas Tech or Lubbock, and OU was ranked higher and I fell in love with OU's law school after visiting.

I've worked in Oklahoma since the summer after my first year...yes, state income taxes are no fun, but the the cost of living in OK is so much cheaper than Dallas/Houston/Austin, it's almost a trade off...not to mention our gas is cheaper

Spud: I grew up in the thriving metropolis of Spearman...there was a girl in my sorority from Muleshoe, and one of our family friends married a girl from there too! Are you active in the OKC aTm club? RC is speaking at our Muster this year

We live in Dallas and took a quick 2 day trip to OKC Valentine's Day just to go somewhere. We stayed downtown at the Skirvin. Very nice folks work there!

We had tix to see 1100 Springs at the Wormy Dog, so we walked over. The guy at the door was very helpful when we asked where to go eat and when to be back for the show. I felt right at home in the WD! When we were ready to leave, the door guy called us a cab--that never came--so he went and got his Suburban and drove us back to the Skirvin himself. Turns out he's a cousin of a friend of mine from elementary school. Small world!

We really enjoyed the Memorial. I'd like to go back to the museum and start about half way through. I got tired and think I missed a lot on the back half. The Underground tunnel system was great. It was darn cold that day.

Thanks for a great visit to OKC. We'd go back and do some other sights!

I'd say this thread backfired on you, Rover.

Does anyone have an opinion of Tulsa, OK?

I was going to start my own thread, but this should do fine.

I am considering taking a job offer in Tulsa, and I didn't get a great feel for the city during my interview. From what I have learned since my visit, the better party of Tulsa is south of Downtown. I did not make it down there to look around.

I currently live in Dallas.

Tulsa is an ok town. Its diff. from anyother town in that crap box of a state. The people are actually no that inbread.

But over all the entire state can suck the bottom of my hairy bean bag!!

I'm glad I got the F out of there!!

'05 hate to break it to you but you are not Texan. I live in Arkansas, but Texas is home. I am a Texan. I love it here for many reasons, but I am counting down the days till I get back. Doesn't sound that way with you.
I don't think OK is all that bad, btw. Glad you love it and I'm happy for all other Ags who have found great places to live outside Texas.

Tulsa is a great city in a beautiful part of the state. Due to the oil boom years lots of museums and art deco buildings downtown. You had the Getty's and others who left a great culutural imprint on Tulsa. Hot areas are Broken Arrow, Jenks, Owasso. North Tulsa not the best, but most cities have a challenged area. Give Tulsa a chance, you will experience all four seasons and a good quality of life.

Myself and a few of my buddies (all current Fightin' Texas Aggies) are planning on making the trip up to OKC for the Big XII Championship.

If there is any way someone in the OKC or surrounding area could find it in their hearts to lend some Aggies a spare room or floor for May 21 through May 25, we would greatly appreciate it!
