I will be potentially moving to the Omaha area late 2009. Does anyone have any info on the best places to live in the area, best schools, homes, etc???

I lived there in 06-07.

Most of the Western suburbs are nice. Anything from about 132nd extending west is pretty new with the nicer stuff being to the southwest around pacific or center streets and the entry level stuff more to the northwest around Maple. There's also newer stuff in the southern suburbs like Ralston. Bellevue is pretty nice and close to Offutt AFB.

Downtown has lots of new condos and is pretty nice if you like a little more of an Urban feel. I lived downtown in the Old Market while I was there.

Personally I like Mid-Town which stretches from about 35th-72nd for older homes and neighborhoods undergoing gentrification. Still some shady parts, but a great location with access to UNO and med center.

I think Millard and District 66 are considered the best school districts in Omaha.

Taxes are CRAZY high there as well.

All in all, I enjoyed my time there.

I'm stationed at Offutt right now and I'll second everything Phil has said. I think Papillion (Southwest Omaha) has some good schools.

Also, stay away from North Omaha. It isn't exactly the best part of town.

Hank92, is there an A&M club here in Omaha? Also, please tell me you know how to play 42 because I've been looking for a good game for a while.
