Alright ags. I recently received employment in anadarko, ok. Those of you that know the area will probably guess that i will not be living there. I was wondering if anyone could recommend any of the other towns in the area that would be nice to get an apartment. (Lawton, Chickasha, Norman)
I don't mind driving up to about an hour to get to work but i would like a little bit of civilization to return to at the end of the day. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Can you co-exist with neighborhoods as rabid about OU as any in Bryan-College Station? Then Norman's a possibility.

If you won't consider living in Anadarko, don't consider Chickasha ... same town in a different location.

Lawton? Not unless you LOVE being in a military town.

Moore's also a good choice. A bit longer of a drive, still heavily OU centric.

Yukon would be OK.

Are you moving for a career or temporary? If temporary, how long? Rental or purchase?

I decided to move to Norman for now. I am going to take an apartment there and just put up with the OU fans.

I am probably going to take a nine month lease for now and see about making a purchase down the road since this is a permanent career move.

Thanks for the input though. I really like the moore area though and might look into something out there further down the road.

Norman's pretty nice; I work there-- lots of restaurants, pretty good shopping. I like college towns. The OU fans are fairly obnoxious, but they're ignorant about Texas in general, thinking that there's only one university there, and that Texas = tu and vice versa. Actually that's the case for all of freakin' Oklahoma.

I live in Moore, and when I moved here in 2000 there was nothing but a Wal-Mart, but now it's thriving and growing like crazy. And it's only seven minutes from Moore to Norman.

Good luck to ya!

I know this is a long shot but just out of curiousity is there any sort of aggie happy hour in this area?

Not that I'm aware of.

when I got out of the Marine Corps I lived in Norman.
its not bad. most of the people, while rabid about OU, were good about A&M and I never had a problem.
traffic sucks though. the city keeps it's lights timed to slow traffic and make you stop.
Don't live in moore! almost every year at least one tornado hit's that town. norman is safe because of the hills etc.

There used to be a happy hour every now and then, mainly in the fall, but they didn't do one last year as far as I heard. I live in Edmond but we used to hop to different bars in Bricktown every could weeks.

I wish it would get going again.

When we lived there (8 yrs ago), OKC had an A&M club. We used to meet for happy hour once a month...it was a good group of Aggies. Not sure how the club is doing now. Check with the Association of Former Students...they usually know who to contact.

There are many Ags at Tinker AFB. Shouldn't be too hard to get a happy hour with several of those guys.
