My fiance is going to law school at NYU and I am an elementary teacher. I looked online to find some elementary schools to apply to, but I was wondering if anyone living in NYC could let me know which ones are in good neighborhoods, close to NYU, etc.

We are going this coming weekend for his admitted student days and I thought I'd call a few schools and see if I could set up some interviews since this will be the only time I'd be in town before August.

The neighborhoods around NYU (where I work) are all pretty expensive. I don't know very much about the schools here but I've heard that zoning can be very odd for where a child actually goes to school. I know in middle and high school ages the child applies just like to a college and gets placed into one of their selections. I am told it can be very competitive. Sorry I can't give you any specific names but I do know there are very large books that have been written on the subject. I suspect that because of the expense of living in Manhattan a lot of those kids will be going to private school so you might look into that.
