I am an independent film producer and actor, and also Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of ‘98! My drama feature film, Desdemona: A Love Story, has been selected by the Newport Beach Film Festival. We screen there this Monday (Apr 27) at 3pm @ Edwards Island, and I wanted to invite all my fellow Aggies in the area.

The film has been building a lot of buzz, and I am glad that we’ve gotten into such a prestigious film festival there in your backyard so that I can share it with you. We had our premiere at the AFI Dallas International Film Festival last month, and we’ve also been selected by the Beverly Hills Film Festival, with many more festivals to follow – we’re just getting started. The film also just picked up a couple of awards from The Accolade Competition, which you can read about in our press release that just went out earlier this week all over the world. The film is a drama, and it has been praised for its cinematography and acting. It follows a Mexican immigrant reflecting on his actions after kidnapping a past love for money to bury his American father figure. I will be in attendance along with the writer/director Phillip Guzman (an SFA grad & therefore a Lumberjack, but we’ll forgive him). Actress Cindy Vela, who plays the title role of Desdemona will also be there.

A little background on me, I was in the Corps of Cadets (L-2 & A-2), a Fish Drill Team advisor and a Fightin’ Texas Aggie Bonfire Redpot. I am proud of my alma mater, and I hope that as many of you as possible will join us at the screening. I’ve got a bet with Phillip that we’ll have more Aggies than Lumberjacks there!
