My wife and I are moving from Dallas to Northern VA in a couple weeks and I'm wondering what is the best way to catch as many Aggie sports on TV out of state? I think we will have Verizon FIOS available in our new neighborhood but I'm wondering how that compares to DirecTV or other options for picking up Aggie football and basketball. Thanks for the help!

I posted this during the Women's BB Big 12 Tournament.

I've also found that it's a good idea to be able to stream off your laptop onto your TV. ESPN3.com or AggieAthletics.com will show a lot of games you don't get on your regular TV package.

This past season I was pretty successful with Aggie Athletics, ESPN 3 and to my surprise FSN. I was also thankful for us being on FX so much. Of course, switching to the SEC will change this.

SEC: every conference game televised!

As long as we're on tv somewhere, you can watch at a sportsbar that carries nationwide events (shouldn't be an issue in DC).

If you can't find a good local place with good food, Buffalo Wild Wings can pick up feeds from anywhere in the country.

If we aren't on tv at all, you'll have to stream College Station am radio coverage online.

I've lived in Oregon for 7 years and my Internet carrier didn't support espn3. com for the first 5 years I was here. I would make that a priority when looking for carriers. I watch almost every A&M football and B Ball game thru espn3.

xc - a very good option is to get a slingbox and set it up at a family member or close friend's house in TX. Pick someone who A) has more cable boxes than they know what to do with, B) has a good sports plan, and C) has a very good internet connection (upload speed on their end is the biggest quality limitation). Slingbox is good because it's only an up-front cost; there's no recurring charges after you buy the device (and apps, if you want/need them).

My slingbox is at my father-in-law's house, and I've used at for a couple football and basketball games each season. Quality isn't as good as ESPN3 feeds, but it's acceptable for meeting your "fix." I only have the SD slingbox. Their HD version supposedly works great, but again, the upload speed on the other end is the biggest limiting factor to quality. Perhaps the best feature of slingbox is the slingbox mobile app where the resolution actually looks really great on a phone and streams very well with a typical 3G signal.

My FIL's cable package is tremendous, AT&T U-Verse. He actually has more west-coast regional FSN's than I do and I live in CA, so maybe if you're moving to an area with U-Verse, they'd be a good option if you don't want to do the slingbox thing.
