museums, theater, amusement parks, concerts, professional sports, breweries or multi-culture cuisine
Gotcha. I don't do those things daily and don't mind driving the couple hours to New Orleans or few hours to Houston a few times a year. To me, it's worth it daily to not be around the large metro. And Lafayette has some of that and other fun stuff. I'm taking my daughter and her friend to SkyZone to jump on the trampolines in a couple weeks. And they have a very cheap jump house for the kids with tons of moon jumps.
Agreed on cuisine. Lafayette has tons of amazing food but it's mostly cajun and southern/american. But that doesn't bother me either. I'm not huge on eating multi-cultural food that often. My food groups are cajun, seafood, steak, BBQ, and mexican and Lafayette has most of that.
And don't forget casinos. The good casinos are in Lake Charles but it's not far from Lafayette to gamble if you're a degenerate like me.
