Howdy Ags!

Just moved from Houston to Lafayette for work and won't have cable in the house until next week. Any Lafayette Ags know a good place to watch the game today? Thanks a bunch!

Sorry I'm two weeks late. I could've helped. I'm born and raised about 45 miles from Lafayette. Great little town. My favorite in Louisiana.

Grew up and went to grade school in Lafayette. Visited several items a year throughout high school and college years. Always had a good time there, but I don't think I'd live there. Traffic sucks, there is no highway, so it's lights lights lights. Very few concerts and other big city stuff.

Quick drive to New Orleans though

I grew up there. Great people and food.

Best po-boys in the world - Olde Tyme Grocery.

Went to grad school at USL, +1 on Olde Tyme. Also, burgers at Judice Inn, pizza at Bisbano's, and Cajun at Randol's and probably a lot of places I couldn't afford back then. Festival Acadiens, Festival Internacional, Downtown Alive, and all the surrounding festivals make Lafayette fun. There also seemed to be less racial discird than when I lived in Baton Rouge or Auburn.

what all entails "big city stuff"?

Lafayette has some of the best festivals and restaurants in Louisiana. It's not professional sports but UL sporting events are very fun, especially baseball. And the Cajun Dome and other venues like the Hyman host other concerts and performing arts events. The musical Annie is performing next week. Good golf in the area too.

The infrastructure does suck but that's true of every Louisiana city except for maybe Lake Charles and Alexandria off the top of my head.

It really is a great city to live in and centrally located in South Louisiana.

I just meant museums, theater, amusement parks, concerts, professional sports, breweries or multi-culture cuisine (hey cajunfood is the best, but is there much else there?) large selection of direct flights for traveling, beach or mountains, etc.

Yeh I guess they have some events, I mean Mardi Gras is a must see. but it's not going to compete with a large metro if those types of things interest you. My relatives that grew up there and never left don't really know any better so have no reason to leave and they love it. My Immediate family moved to Houston and then me to Denver, I would never move back there, and neither would my parents or brother (who moved to Bay Area).

Gotcha. I don't do those things daily and don't mind driving the couple hours to New Orleans or few hours to Houston a few times a year. To me, it's worth it daily to not be around the large metro. And Lafayette has some of that and other fun stuff. I'm taking my daughter and her friend to SkyZone to jump on the trampolines in a couple weeks. And they have a very cheap jump house for the kids with tons of moon jumps.

Agreed on cuisine. Lafayette has tons of amazing food but it's mostly cajun and southern/american. But that doesn't bother me either. I'm not huge on eating multi-cultural food that often. My food groups are cajun, seafood, steak, BBQ, and mexican and Lafayette has most of that.

And don't forget casinos. The good casinos are in Lake Charles but it's not far from Lafayette to gamble if you're a degenerate like me.

XGolf opened in Lafayette this week. I played Friday. Liked it a lot. Very realistic.

$40/hr and add $10 for each extra person. We had a 3some play for 2 hours so $40/person. Not bad.
