My buy button gets a little itchy on days like this...I think I'm going to restrain myself today. about 33% cash overall.

NVDA - so ready
What say you 4 months later? I think it has a chance of another climb soon. My amateur skills suggest to me that we have a good chance to get 195 or above by Nov 7 (potentially a good bit higher on any catalyst news). But if there are any major macro drawdowns with conviction or bad news I could see a path to just above 150 by 11/7.

Back when I was a bigger clown than I am now, I was day trading UVXY options...having no clue what UVXY was or what the VIX was. Worked out really well until it didn't. I think that Scottrade IRA closed with about $52 in it...down from about $35k.
Quote:
The settlement process for VIX options is a crucial aspect of trading, and it's essential to grasp the process to avoid any potential issues. The settlement price is determined by the VIX index value at the close of trading on the third Friday of the month, or the next business day if it falls on a holiday. The settlement value is cash settled, as there is no way of delivering the underlying, which is just an index. The settlement value is determined by the Special Opening Quotation (SOQ) of VIX, which is derived from opening prices or quotes of S&P500 options used for VIX calculation at the open on VIX options expiration date. If there is no trade on a particular S&P500 option, the average of bid and ask will be used. The settlement amount of a particular VIX option is the difference between the Special Opening Quotation and the option's strike price, times 100 dollars. The cash from VIX options settlement is delivered on the business day following expiration date.

I agree with this. Most of my investments are with a professional but I still handle some on my own for fun, hopefully profit and fun $$$.Thanks to this board and Covid my fun money has gone through the roof.

All I know is that I'm completely slaughtering my professional FA this year. In the 3 accounts I self-manage, I'm up 36%, 24%, and 21%. He's a good guy and does OK with standard investing strategy.
No patting myself on the back - - nearly all of the above is based on recommendations from Texags. I mean, I just made $4XXX on a 60 day trade on Gatekeeper GKPRF. That's absurd. No way I find that play anywhere except on here.

lol, 1K swing in the Dow.

To be fair, in a bull market most people will outpace an average FA.
I do my own investing, but bear markets are where a FA/CFP would likely show their value.

I was about to post that. a 1000 pt swing without any pullback. When it does drop, it hits the 9 DMA and then bounces higher. I don't rec options but for you degenerate gamblers like FJ out there and want a lotto. I'd target 0DTE or 1DTE SPY calls because I think this thing explodes higher into the close.
Remember: Lottos should be expected to go to zero so don't hang yourselves. This is a zero or hero trade.

Didn't you tell this board not to sell but sell CC? Then you go and sell? Or am I misreading what happened?

Guess your shares weren't tied up in a CC contract?
