Years ago, I was in one of them. I didn't actively do anything, just got rolled into a class action lawsuit. A year or two later, I got a check for $5 or so. Total, not $5 per share owned.

They are only worth it for the lawyers bringing the case

These are similar to using coupons, but with more effort. You can collect a bit, but have to judge for yourself if worth the time/effort.

Unless you have plans to sue yourself, generally no harm other than time cost.

More and more class action shops. Worthless for shareholders other than maybe the lead plaintiff. Securities lawyers are right after personal injury and divorce attorneys on the hierarchy of lawyers that are sleaze

I got $200-$300 once. Can't remember which one it was but I don't think I had to do a whole lot.
