The original consoles and cartridges are simply another comic book and baseball cards. Cool to look at and show friends, but otherwise useless. Perceived value that you MAY capture if there is a random run on these things like what happened with collectibles during COVID.
Most collections aren't "useful".
An emulator doesn't remove the value of a rare video game any more than being able to view a replica of a piece of art removes the value of the original. The first issue of Playboy sold at auction for $3k even though I can see nudes on the internet for free.
The only real question is what kind of market there is for it.
