Was in the first wave of Platinum Premier in 2004. Really awkward having a GM be your bell boy, especially in front of your c-level client.

Always spend points as fast as I earn them to fight deflation. Hawaii, Mexico, wherever.

Just over 5,500 lifetime nights and 23 consecutive years at Platinum or higher.
You have spent 5500 of the 8395 days since 2000 in hotel rooms?

I don't mind travel but...WTF?????

BTW, I got Titanium back in summer 2021, partly because of free CC nights (personal and business card) and getting to spend 5 weeks in Harlingen at the Courtyard (got the nice suite the whole time, though).

Still have it and I don't know why. Did't meet the qualifications last year. Maybe it's just a Covid thing. Oh well, it got me a few extra perks on my last trip when the guy checking me in noticed it and told to grab a few things from the snack "bar".

Otherwise, I'm always going to be Gold due to my Amex card(s).

I'm Hilton Gold because of Amex, too. And Hertz President's Circle.

Status is nice - I like getting to pick my seat up front when I book the ticket. I like walking out and grabbing a nice car, not the POS they offer because TAMU-CC makes me book economy. And I like the extra points and occasional upgrades at hotels.

I'm signed up for pretty much every status program. AA, United, Delta, Southwest, Marriott, Hilton, Best Western, IHG, Choice, Wyndham, etc. If I get stuck somewhere or going somewhere, I WILL gets points from that *****

I don't spend my points that often. Usually on the front and back end of my Christmas vacation (I got a free time share that I use to spend 2 weeks in the Caribbean every Christmas) and then every once in awhile.

But, I can't tell you how many points I've spent on hotel points for my kids and grandkids...that's worth it for me...

You assume he didn't travel before he was platinum.

He could have had 40 nights a year for two decades before 2000 and was gold.

And, a lot of those nights are promotional I'd bet. For the next couple of months it's two for one. I always do well with these.

oh yeh didn't think about that.
My card gives me 25 nights a year. that's 500 in 20 years.

Didn't even think about that. I've never had a card, so my 1635 is true nights. Exhausts me to think about it. That's 4.5 years of my 30 year career in Marriott/SPG hotel rooms.
