How long do you want to ignore this user?

Howdy, I am freshly graduated Aggie Veterinarian and ANSC grad practicing in the New Braunfels area. I am currently in the process of starting my own mobile large animal practice as well as a diversified livestock operation. I have reached out to 4 different CPAs recommended by various people in the area and have been "ignored" for lack of a better term by all of them due to not having enough bank roll. Looking for suggestions on CPAs or business lawyers in the area (anywhere between SA and Austin) who would be willing to take me on as a client. Preferably they are an Aggie but open to anyone the board recommends.
Thanks and Gigem

My suggestion is to network with your peers. Other vets likely have tax advisors and preparers that know your industry.

Also, be specific on what services you're seeking. A"CPA" can mean a wide range of services - tax, auditing, consulting, record keeping, etc. For example: Do you want someone to prepare tax returns? Or someone to regularly advise you as your practice grows? Congrats and good luck!

May want to entertain fractional CFO services depending on what it is that you're trying to accomplish.

Congratulations on the new career, I wish you the best of luck.

As someone mentioned, I would discuss what you are looking for with other vets in your area. They are all using someone and you can find out first-hand what they are happy with and not so happy with when it comes to their CPA.

I am looking for basic tax services and guidance on how to properly set up a business (LLC vs other options). I appreciate all the replies so far!
I have been discussing with my colleagues here in the hospital on who they use, one is going to talk to her accountant to see if he is taking on new clients so waiting to hear back on that.

As you'll find out independent CPAs are usually specialized, tax, audit, business consulting. And within tax individual or business etc.

On forming a company I would suggest a lawyer for that. Maybe also a tax accountant. I have a lawyer and a tax accountant I can recommend. The accountant is an Aggie, partnered with another Aggie. But they work in the Cypress area

That would be awesome my personal email is tristencruz1@gmail.com
More than willing to work with someone not in the area if they do virtual consults.

In all seriousness, doesn't everyone think you're MF Barnes? Or am I thinking of someone else?

Tread lightly if so, OP

Not sure the extent of her services, but she does tax prep/consulting for us. Reach out to Lisa Migura, she's also an Aggie. Great person to work with. If she can't take care of her needs then she'll know someone who can.

Howdy Dr Cruz,

I am a practicing CPA in Spring Branch, TX (north of SA), class of '10. Feel free to reach out to me or one of the partners at my firm, Michalak PC.

Obviously we have to determine if you're a good fit for the firm, which is primarily out of my control. Those are mostly decisions above my pay grade.

But if it doesn't work out, I would also recommend my previous employer - Armstrong, Vaughan & Associates. No Aggies in the tax dept. there as far as I know, but they do good work and have actually carved out a niche in servicing other area vets.

Best of luck, and look forward to the possibility of working for you.
