I am curious on how others are using AI to improve their processes and cut out the human factor or outsourcing services and now do in house.

I am in electrical subcontracting and researching how we can use AI. I know there are companies that promote AI in construction, but my uneducated guess is they are just creating the scripts and know how to do certain things, but if we figure it out ourselves, we can do the same things. I know contract review, writing RFI's, and other document reviews seems like the low hanging fruit.

I use it to help do some analytics, but on a very low level.

What resources are you using to learn about it and to utilize it?

I'd be curious to hear more about how you're using it for analytics.

In the GC world, and while I haven't spent extensive time researching potential uses, the only way I've incorporated it is in writing code for some of our analytics with power BI.

I'm in the architecture world and we've tinkered around with it on a variety of levels. It's interesting what it puts out and we've discovered the more data/description we put in, the better the results. Now we've never actually utilized something that it designs, but we've had it give us some pretty cool results that help generate ideas.

Obviously every business/scenario is different. But I think this is the biggest holdback for the majority of currently available AI tools. They need to be custom tailored and under contracts for most businesses to actually utilize them. I know we aren't allowed to use them outside generic prompts and excel/modeling help due to data/privacy issues.

We have been working with and utilizing palantir for specific kind of pilot projects.

I'm on customer side and remote work so I have a lot of zoom calls. I use OtterPilot to auto join my zoom calls and take notes/provide a summary overview, key takeaways and transcript of every call.

It will either auto join every zoom or I can manually select which calls to join. It will also join if I'm not able to if it's not a one-on-one and take notes.

It helps me be able to pay attention to the customer. Answer questions and solve product issues without having to take notes and divert my attention. I can focus on the customer and not worry about a meeting recap.

Is there an AI tool I could feed some contracts into, very long and complex, and then ask it questions about the terms and get a correct answer?

Better yet, I could ask it to compare terms across vendors?

There are options. GPT-4 API has a max context window of 32k tokens (about 24k words), so if you want to ask questions about a document(s) that are less than that you can feed it directly through the API. But, it seems tricky to get the 32k context and most people (myself included) are limited to the 8k context. If your contract(s) are going to exceed this you could look at using a RAG (retrieval augmented generation) approach and still leverage GPT-4, but it gets more complicated.

My HR director quit out of the blue.

I have replaced her with automation. Literally the entire hiring process is done via text/email/online

Its more efficient, my hire rate is better, and I have yet to see it mess up.

I did hire a person for probably 1/4 of the cost to dot i's and cross t's, and then that person now has other job duties that my directors hated doing. It also, texts and messages prospective employees after hours when they are more likely to text/message and that has been tremendous. Reschedules/questions/etc

It's been terrific.

I salute you. HR is the most worthless overhead of any company and I also would like to know more about this being in a small startup with no HR, currently, and plans to not have HR as much as possible.

We are exploring it to help us speed up some processes in our sales cycle.

Personally, I have to say, it has been awesome just having it built into Bing search. I use Edge for my browser and it has greatly automated and sped up my search results.

I use a program called preintent to start the process

Then I use signeasy to get them to do paperwork.

I sit in my office and when I get the last email.... I know I have a person I want to move forward with.

A lot of setup to get it perfect but I love it
