Pretty sure you can switch anytime with insurance and they'll refund what's left of your payment.

Was doing some checking annnnd.....holy ***** I am such a disorganized mess. I just caught that I have also been paying renters insurance to a house. A house that I haven't lived in for almost 3 years. $17 a month. I know that's nothing to this board but man, the principle of it if nothing else kills me. (and the lost cash tbh as a lolpoor)

Autopay is both my best friend and my worst enemy... I disgust myself periodically with my lack of recall.

Double thanks to this thread! Going to go find a way to haze this lesson into my monkey brain now.

Well, thanks for that heads up as well!

Called in to USAA and sat through their pitch to try to keep me but they couldn't come close to matching and you are correct. I am getting credited back $570. Which I did not even realize was a thing so I was going to just sit back and eat another six months of more expensive coverage and not blink twice.

I don't know if yall have great parents that teach yall this stuff but I sure as hell didn't and I swear I bumble through this life ignorant beyond belief to stuff like this. So thanks to you for pointing that out. That single sentence you typed out just saved me around $200. If you are ever in the metro, next beer (or whatever you prefer) is on me!

the last time I got a quote (from farmers, a friend worked there and I indulged him the opportunity), they were like 15% lower; I then called usaa and they matched it. Tbh is was a decade ago.

I just got a geico quote two days ago; it was within $10.

Home premium was 785 monthly. Local State Farm agent quoted $525. USAA has gotten rediculous
Yes they have. An agent explained to me that in areas where they have high exposure they raise the premiums which will financially mitigate their risk by increasing premiums collected (if people keep them) or lowing their exposure (if people switch).

I've been with them for 30 years and I'm getting ready to switch. I'm torn though because as expensive as they are their claim service is second to none (at least in my experience)
