I think the key is being willing to walk and being educated on other options.

Last one was negotiated by text after we walked out. Car before we brought a cashiers check with our offer + what they said we could pay by credit card.

Salespeople need to eat too, but there is no reason for their managers games

I just do it all via email, text and phone (to a much lesser degree). I know what I want, do my research and don't go to the delaership until I have a bottom line deal.

And work multiple dealerships against each other to get the best deal possible.

Don't talk financing (or trade) until you have a bottom line deal.

As other have said, have third party financing in hand ahead of time to negotiate with. Oftentimes, dealerships will still beat it - but at least they know you have other options and you know what the market is.

Generally no add ons, extended warranties, etc.

I don't think I'm getting over on anyone, but just trying to get the best deal possible with least amount of time and stress.

every car I've ever bought was negotiated before I ever even set eyes on the car or walked in the dealer. And dealers will play ball remotely/phone/email if you are trying to buy a car they want to move. My last car was for my wife and we negotiated $37,000 off sticker before we arrived to sign a few pages and leave within 30 mins of arriving. The downside of this approach is you have to be very patient until you find the right car and rightly motivated dealer to sell it. Its not a fast approach by any means...
$37,000 off sticker.

This isn't even a funny troll job, just ******ed.

Nothing ever didn't happen more than this.

That's nothing- I'm basically an Arab bazaar trader in my second life. I told the guy to give me best 8 person discount best friend price and they just gave me the keys. When it comes to car buying, everybody is a shrewd buyer.

You're right. I lied. It was $37,465 off sticker. Not 37k.

1 - Go on the last day of the month
2 - Make sure it is raining
3 - Do multiple test drives
4 - Walk away from the dealer multiple times
5 - During finance, tell them that you want everything added, but can't afford it
6 - Once finance is done, tell that that you have a trade-in
7 - A day later, cancel all those additions
8 - Never take your car there to be serviced

Demand to pay at least half on your credit card because it pays back 3%. Be sure and let them know you're getting 3% back.
You laugh but I put my RV down payment on a credit card lol. Got like 15k Marriott points! Had the cash in my account from previous RV sale, so paid off the card.

Maybe because Audi's are crappy?

We had an S5 that had major electrical issues… used the lemon law to get our $ back.

Ok. Cool. Ours has been good. And the one before. Wouldn't own It without a warranty tho, that is for sure. Way too complicated.

A good mantra… always better to have the ability to buy a lambo with cash than buy a Porsche on credit.
