I'm not sure where else to post this, but B&I seems most likely to get the right audience. I need help getting a package out of customs. I ordered an item from Japan that is sitting in O'Hare customs and have spent the better part of 3 days trying to get a customs broker to help. The first would not answer my question on fees even though I asked multiple times, the second wouldn't work with items that were going to be turned over to the USPS after clearing. The 3rd seems incompetent and is demanding a form that doesn't make sense. I've cold called several other brokers and they all seem to only handle large business stuff.
Some details in case some here can help. I received a letter from US CPB on Tuesday saying they had my package and that it required Formal Entry because it is valued over $2500. They sent with the letter the Notice of Arrival, the Invoice and the EMS Dispatch Note.
Thanks for any help you can provide. This has been thoroughly frustrating!

Looking at US customs, it does not look easy.

That's all I got.

Edit to add;

Sort of a rabbit hole to go down, and it is not cheap.

Thanks for the reply.
Clearit is the entity I had to bail on because the agent didn't know what they were doing.
I finally got someone to help me out after a bunch more cold calls. He doesn't have experience doing what I need but has access to all of the tools and has been good about figuring things out. He sounds and acts like a good ole boy, so I'm happy to have found him. Hopefully I have a conclusion on Monday and my package gets released. One thing I did learn is that I am going to get hit with the Trump tariffs. If it were pre-April I wouldn't have to pay any duties or tariffs because my item is an antique. Having arrived at the end of July, I will have to pay a 10% tariff, which is over $600. Had it arrived after 8/7 I would have owed 15%. The broker and other fees are going to cost $300ish so I will be out $1000 over what I paid for my item.
