Anyone notice how over the last few weeks there's usually a meaningful gap between the S&P close and S&P futures

Say we close at 6645, futures will show around 6700 and its been fairly constant lately. I dont recall noticing such a constant gap in the past.

Does this mean anything?

Contracts rolled over to December recently. The gap will shrink unless market is saying there will be monster volatility coming .

There's almost always a small spread between the two. The difference is carry costs of futures as well as some potential volatility differences. This is nothing new.
