It's time to activate your new benefits. If you are not as savvy as the CC acolytes on here (I'm one of the less savvy ones) some of these benefits have to be activated at the Chase portal and are not auto applied. Go to Chase>Benefits & Travel>Benefits.

I activated my Apple TV and Apple Music subs this morning which will save me $25 per month now. Once you activate, you then cancel your existing paid subs for these on your phone. It was surprisingly easy and hassle-free.

Other perks I found that I didn't totally realize were there:
  • Under Special Car Rental Privileges, I found that my existing National Emerald Club membership can be upgraded for free to Emerald Executive which gets you better cars for same price as regular Emerald. That's nice.
  • I don't ever stay at IHG Hotels but the Platinum level that Sapphire gets you with IHG then backdoors you into Hertz Gold, which is equivalent to National Emerald Club, if you are Hertz person. I'll only use this if for some reason I'm going somewhere that National doesn't serve, but Hertz does but good to have as a backup.

Is there a guide to using as many benefits before the card renews at the higher rate? I'm planning to cancel next month.

I haven't seen a detailed one, but haven't looked. I would try The Points Guy or UpgradedPoints.com.

I booked a 2 night stay for the $250 edit benefit and the 150 restaurant credit for a December stay this morning.

The 2 night requirement dilutes the value a bit but it's still well worth it.

BTW - you can mix point/cash and still take advantage of the credit as long as you prepay at least 250. At least the is what the rep told me. The hotel I booked had a 2:1 points conversion.

I'll definitely take advantage of the stub hub benefit as well.

It also looks like the perks that kick in at 75k annual spend are retro active as my portal shows my spending goal
as met and the $500 SWA credit plus A list plus 250 credit at chase shops and IHG diamond elite kicks in next billing cycle.

Are these just Reserve benefits? I'm not seeing anything like Apple TV for Preferred.

Yes, this is just Sapphire Reserve. The flagship card.

Edit: I should have been more specific in OP title.

I am dropping the card. I did a long personal analysis and the perks dont make it worth it for us any longer. When I called to cancel they told me that a substantial amount of people have done the same.

I'm actually still debating this myself.

I live in rural CO and live pretty simple. We take a few 2 week vacations a year so we enjoy some of the perks, but sometimes the offers and pts cannot be applied to where we go. We dont use UberEats etc., Stubhub or stuff like that, so a waste to offer us. My work pays for Global Entry. I got the card when it first came out and have enjoyed it but I think i will just churn a few this year to get some extra air miles or pts and decide later. Living where I do, I need something geared to either United (my preferred airline) or something out of Denver to help alleviate flight costs when we travel.

I will say, When I went to SE Asia last year, I spent about 3 of the 6 weeks I was there in nothing but 5 star hotels and man that was nice. The 50% upgrade in pts made that happen and I am so blessed to have experienced that.

I'm thinking I'm in the same boat. I've had the card for almost 10 years and its been nice, but with the increase in price I don't see myself getting the benefits to offset that price. Sure the hotel and flight credit sounds nice, but we don't take a trip annually and if I did take a trip I would need to spend more than what the credit gets me if we take the kids so I'm spending money to "save" money. I'm also still soured on chase travel as I discovered earlier this year they don't intentionally offer every flight through their reservation system. I had found the perfect itinerary using the airline's site and then when I went over to book using chase it wasn't available.

Are the two of you simply downgrading your Sapphire cards to a lower level card?

I closed my card/account. The next day I applied for and am waiting on a new Sapphire Preferred card and will buy new flooring on that to get the 75K pts award. Last month in preparation for closing the Reserve card, I picked up a United Venture(I think that is the right name) and got around 100K miles for spending the $5K in 3 months.

When I closed the Reserve card, they asked if I wanted to do a product swap, basically downgrade the card. I declined because I was missing out on the 75K pts by opening a new one.

I switched to capital one venture since they had a 90,000 point promo for new cardmembers and I had spent almost all of my chase points on a rental car for a trip my wife took.

Makes sense. I think I'm going to play this out through end of year and then switch at new year, if I do. I've run a deep analysis comparing the flagship cards and found Sapphire makes most sense of those 3 cards, but now I need to assess the Sapphire against some lower tier cards.

If you have two cards on your account does each card get these benefits?
