Empower has continued to *******ize what was formerly Personal Capital. The latest round of updates have the product nearly unusable for me. Chronic integration errors, auto sizing / rendering is broken, etc.

I give up and am willing to pay for a proper tool to track Net Worth, Budget/Expenses, Investments, etc.

I've been looking at Monarch or Quicken Simplifi. Any one have recommendations?

I wish Mint still existed.

Moving to PC sucked to begin with. Finally started getting used to it when they moved to a new app and made it exponentially worse.

I switched to monarch from mint. I like it, but I don't use it to budget. Just keep track of everything

This. Monarch is the best since Mint (and is better IMO).

I use Boldin for retirement planning.

I like Monarch quite a bit. They have sales often, look for a discounted membership.

If you like spreadsheets and the ability to customize stuff in an off the shelf product, then I highly recommend Tiller. You don't have to customize it all, but you can if you want since it's based in Google Sheets or MS Excel (your preference). Tons of user mods as well.

If you are an Apple ecosystem guy, I would also check out Copilot.

Monarch seems to be the most oft mentioned app these days but wanted to throw out some other options just in case.

I started using Quicken Simplifi (and not a fan of Quicken or Quickbooks) a couple of months ago. I use it only to provide the value of all my investments. Since mine are somewhat scattered it helps to click one thing and everything be listed and current.

I can't tell you about expense tracking or budgeting since I don't do either one and have not looked into those parts of the software. I was super cheap and I had an offer of 50% off or something like that so gave it a try. So far, I am pleased with it.

Exact same story usage wise, here. Longtime Quicken / Mint user that took the plunge and started paying for Simplifi. I've been pleased with it so far, BUT, just in the last week, it has been having problems with updating a couple accounts. One's a major bank, and the other is a credit union (which I can maybe understand more?). Other than that, it does what I need.

I've used Simplifi as a net worth overview for about a year now and have enjoyed it. Not sure on budgets, I don't believe in budgeting.

Monarch is so slow to update accounts. I would prefer a better option.

Everything to do with Empower sucks. It could be a good program, but more and more of my accounts don't sync. My wife has a retirement account with Empower, and everything to do with managing it and trying to get it moved to Fidelity has been a huge pita.

I also loved Mint and used it for years. I've heard nothing but good things about Monarch, but I just simply hate subscriptions.

Are you sure it's not your account it's linked to? It's been extremely fast for me for most accounts.

Chase and fidelity, seem to only update once a date. Every time I open the app it shows last update 12+ hours ago.

I only get that with my Empower retirement account. Chase/BofA/etc update throughout the day (I can buy something on a credit card and see it in Monarch within the hour).

It's really sad to hear how Empower has ruined Personal Capital. PC was easily the gold standard investment UI out there and it was free other than having to tolerate their periodic phone calls to use them as FA's. But still that's easily put up with if they were going to offer such a powerful tool like that to anyone.

And then Empower buys it and I guess ruins it. We still have my wife's 401k at Empower so I still have access to PC, but I don't really use it anymore so can't speak to it degradation.

For those wanting a free solution

1. Check to see if your Financial Advisor has an aggregation portal like Personal Capital. My FA does and we use it as the core tool for establish a lot of their reporting.
2. Your mainline financial platform may have its own solution; they just don't market it well.

Examples:
- Fidelity has a tool in their Retirement Planning section. You kind of have to dig for it. It's brand new and looks to be replacing their old Full View tool. I haven't played with it too much.
- Chase has its own aggregation portal. Go dig around in your account. I think it's in the Planning area.

I bet all of the big national banks like above have a tool that lets you pull in all of your other accounts so that you can at least get a high level investment view. Budgeting may or may not be strong enough feature, but they have tools that come with your existing account that you can at least play around with.
